  • Publication number: 20160258528
Abstract: A planetary pin used for staking in a planetary gear system is provided. The planetary pin comprises a cylindrical body, a first end having a first end surface, a second end having a second end surface, and a circular groove formed in at least one of the end surfaces concentric with the cylindrical body.
    Type: Application
    Filed: March 5, 2015
    Publication date: September 8, 2016
Applicant: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG
Inventors: Ryan Carlino, Charles Schwab, Alfred Thomas
  • Patent number: 9279492
Abstract: A planet pin for use in a planetary gear system and a gear system including a planet pin are disclosed. The inventive planet pin provides a plurality of radial passages in fluid communication with an axial passage which can advantageously eliminate, or substantially reduce, the need to orient a planet pin in a planetary gear system.

  • Publication number: 20150330498
Abstract: A planetary pin for use in a planetary gear system is provided. The planetary pin comprises a cylindrical body, a first end, an axial passage extending from the first end, and a wall thickness between the axial passage and an outer surface of the body. A cylindrical lateral passage is formed through the wall thickness axially displaced from the first end and in fluid communication with the axial passage. A slot formed in the first end from the outer surface to intersect with the axial passage. A planetary pin assembly using the planetary pin is provided in which the slot in the first end of the pin cooperates with a planetary carrier to accept and direct lubricant to the lateral passage through the axial passage.
