Patent number: 11740043Abstract: A firearm can include a receiver, a bolt, and a gas block. In certain implementations, the receiver and/or barrel extension includes a locking shoulder, a lug-interface region forward of the locking shoulder, and a channel wall that defines a bolt channel and a bolt-lug raceway rearward of the locking shoulder. In some implementations, the bolt includes a bolt lug. The bolt lug can be sized and shaped to slidably engage the bolt-lug raceway. Additionally, the bolt can be positioned within the bolt channel of the receiver. Further, the gas block can be positioned at the lug-interface region. In some implementations, the gas block is rotatable with the bolt lug. In particular implementations, the gas block includes a raceway plug sized and shaped to block the bolt-lug raceway. The gas block can also include a bolt-lug notch sized and shaped to mate with the bolt lug.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2022Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: BROWNINGInventors: Ryan D. Publication number: 20120085010Abstract: A handgun is provided with a frame including a magazine receiver and trigger guard. A breech-slide is slidably coupled with the frame. A magazine safety assembly includes a safety tab that engages a trigger assembly, when a cartridge magazine is not seated within the magazine receiver, and prevents actuation of the trigger assembly. The safety tab engages the cartridge magazine when it is seated within the magazine receiver, which displaces the safety tab from within the trigger assembly and allows the trigger assembly to actuate. Embodiments of the handgun are provided in a compact size. A finger recess in the trigger guard increases available surface area along a grip portion despite the overall compact size.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2010Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: BROWNINGInventor: Ryan D. Patent number: 8056280Abstract: A shotgun includes a forearm and a fastening mechanism that is used to couple the forearm to the remainder of the shotgun. The fastening mechanism moves between a first position where the forearm is coupled to the remainder of the shotgun and a second position where the forearm is uncoupled from the remainder of the shotgun. In one embodiment, the fastening mechanism is a lever-type fastening mechanism. In another embodiment, the fastening mechanism includes an anchor that is shaped to be received in a hole in a magazine of the shotgun. The anchor rotates between a first position where the anchor is unable to exit the hole so that the forearm is coupled to the magazine and a second position where the anchor is able to exit the hole so that the forearm is uncoupled from the magazine.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2008Date of Patent: November 15, 2011Assignee: BrowningInventors: Marc Lesenfants, Ryan D. Patent number: 7806036Abstract: A magazine for introducing a plurality of ammunition cartridges into a firearm is disclosed. Particularly, a magazine may include a first rotor configured for rotating about a first center of rotation and a second rotor configured for rotating about a second center of rotation, wherein a position of the first rotor and a position of the second rotor are fixed with respect to one another. Further, operation of the first and second rotor may cause at least one ammunition cartridge of a plurality of ammunition cartridges that are movable by the first and second rotor to move along a serpentine path. Firearm systems including such a magazine are also disclosed. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method of introducing an ammunition cartridge into a firearm. More specifically, an ammunition cartridge may be moved along a selected serpentine path prior to introducing the ammunition cartridge into a firearm.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2006Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: BrowningInventors: Ryan D.
