Abstract: An article of footwear includes a sole, an upper connected to the sole, and an insole positioned within a foot cavity. The upper includes an outer shell extending from the heel region to the forefoot region, the outer shell including an outer heel wall defining an upper perimeter. A bootie is positioned within the outer shell and extends from the heel region to the forefoot region. The bootie is free floating relative to the outer shell within the heel region. The booting includes an inner heel cup configured to be moved between an upright position and a folded position. A posterior wall of the inner heel cup extends above the upper perimeter of the outer heel wall when the inner heel cup is in the upright position. The posterior wall of the inner heel cup is laid against the insole when the inner heel cup is in the folded position.

Abstract: A fabric for thermal management including the cooling of an object, such as a person's skin. The fabric is formed of a plurality of functional zones arranged to extend the period of cooling without the use of artificial cooling chemicals. The functional zones include one or more of three different functional zone types. The first type diverts moisture. The second type retains and stores moisture. The third type absorbs moisture. One of the functional zones may be punched to create perforations to provide fabric flexibility and to assist in liquid diversion from within the fabric. An anchor system facilitates retention of the fabric on the object.

The lower may include a primary midsole, cushion elements, a rear lower midsole, a directional cradle, and an outsole. The cushions may be located in the between the directional cradle and the rear lower midsole. Various embodiments of cushions are presented and may be consistent with specific types of shoes such as running trainers, trail shoes, general fitness footwear, or basketball shoes. The lower may be consistent with approaches to remediate a wearer's pronation or supination.
