  • Patent number: 9865423
Abstract: An emitter for a cathode of an X-ray tube is provided that includes a shaped emitting surface. The emitting surface is shaped in a suitable process in order to enable the emitting surface to focus electron beams emitted from the emitting surface on a focal spot on a target of less than 1.0 mm without the need for any additional focusing elements in the X-ray tube.

Date of Patent: January 9, 2018
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Sergio Lemaitre, Ben David Poquette, Ryan James Lemminger, Donald Robert Allen, Judson Sloan Marte, Gregory Alan Steinlage, Richard Michael Roffers

  • Patent number: 8542800
Abstract: A component for introducing disturbances into the magnetic field of an asynchronous motor by altering a reluctance of the motor is disclosed. An asynchronous motor is provided that includes a stator having a plurality of windings that is configured to generate a rotating magnetic field when a current is provided to the plurality of windings. The asynchronous motor also includes a rotor positioned within the stator configured to rotate relative thereto responsive to the rotating magnetic field and a component separate from the stator and the rotor that is positioned within the rotating magnetic field, with the component being configured to alter a magnetic reluctance of the rotor so as create a disturbance in the rotating magnetic field.

  • Publication number: 20120155609
Abstract: A system and method for improved imaging of a subject through the use of low dose exposure aided positioning is provided. The subject is positioned in an X-ray imaging system and imaged with a low dose pre-shot X-ray exposure to verify the positioning of the subject. If the subject's positioning is acceptable, the subject is then imaged with a full dose X-ray exposure. If the subject's positioning is not acceptable, the subject is repositioned and re-imaged with a low dose pre-shot X-ray exposure until the subject's positioning is acceptable. The low dose pre-shot X-ray exposure may take the form of a low dose X-ray imaging sequence where the radiation dose is less than the radiation dose of a full dose X-ray exposure.
