  • Patent number: 10350813
Abstract: A system combining a machine for blow-molding articles with a universal in-mold labeling apparatus. The apparatus has a frame on which turntables are mounted. Each turntable has an air rotary union, facilitating rotation of the respective turntable, and suction cups adapted to pick, hold, and release labels. The turntables deliver labels to the open molds of the machine. The apparatus also has a vertical slide positioned between the turntables. A placement head engages the turntables and moves up the vertical slide to a position in the open molds. At least one label magazine is affixed to the frame and retains the labels. Strategically placed air valves provide air and vacuum to pick, hold, and release labels. A human machine interface facilitates communication between an operator of the system and the system. Finally, a control system is provided to allow the operator to program and control both the machine and apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20180186039
Abstract: A mold cleaner for in-line cleaning of a mold cavity of a blow mold of a blow molding machine. The cleaner has a mount attaching the cleaner to the collet of the machine, enabling the feed belt of the machine to transport the collet and the cleaner to and from the blow mold to be cleaned. An air-powered motor engages the mount, has a motor shaft, and receives air from the blow seal of the machine, which activates the motor and rotates the motor shaft. A bearing carrier surrounds the motor and engages the mount. A cleaning unit is carried by the bearing carrier and rotated by the motor shaft, and contacts the mold cavity to clean the mold cavity. A related method is also provided of using the mold cleaner to perform in-line cleaning of a mold cavity of a blow mold of a blow molding machine.

  • Publication number: 20180158560
Abstract: Techniques are provided for the absorption of energy carried by nuclear radiation by an emitter electrode and converting the energy to useful electrical work. An emitter electrode is provided which absorbs energy from nuclear radiation and emits a thermoelectron current, configured such that parasitic energy loss via direct thermal transport and thermal photon emission is minimized. A thermoelectron energy converter is provided which includes an emitter electrode, a nuclear source in the vicinity of the emitter electrode, a collector electrode, an enclosure, and electrical leads. Nuclear events within the nuclear source causes electron emission from the emitter electrode. The electrons emitted from the emitter electrode travel to the collector electrode and can be driven through an external circuit, outputting electrical power.
