  • Patent number: 9920732
Abstract: An engine starting device is provided with a battery, a starter motor, an inrush current limit circuit and a control unit. The inrush current limit circuit has a resistor and a bypass relay connected in parallel. The inrush current limit circuit is interposed between the battery and the starter motor. The bypass relay has a normally open contact that is configured to be closed at a time of engine startup. The control unit is programmed to include a fault identification unit that identifies a location of fault occurrence in the inrush current limit circuit based on a minimum voltage of the battery existing while the starter motor is determined to be in operation and an amount of decrease in voltage of the battery existing while the normally open contact is determined to be actuated in a closing direction.

  • Patent number: 9500162
Abstract: A valve apparatus performs at least one of a first operation in which an electric motor is energized in a valve-close direction and a rotation shaft is rotated until its rotation is stopped and a second operation in which the electric motor is deenergized and a valve is fully closed by a biasing force of a return spring. Thereby, a rotation angle of the rotation shaft becomes a rotation-stop angle or the rotation angle becomes in the backlash range, so that a biasing force of the return spring is not transmitted to the rotation shaft. Then, the electric motor generates a specified torque, which is less than a valve-opening torque by which the valve starts opening. Thereby, a rotation angle of the rotation shaft can be stopped at a full-close angle. The full-close angle can be made correspond to an output of a rotational angle sensor.

  • Patent number: 9482160
Abstract: A cam full close stopper defines a cam full close position that is a limit position of a rotatable range of a cam. A sensor element outputs a signal corresponding to a rotation angle of the cam. A signal processor changes the signal output from the sensor element into a sensor output. A storage part memorizes a data table representing a correspondence relationship between the rotation angle of the cam and the sensor output of the signal processor in a predetermined form, characteristics of the sensor output being adjustable at a plurality of points with respect to the rotation angle of the cam. The storage part memorizes the sensor output of the signal processor when the cam is fully closed at the cam full close position.

  • Patent number: 9045130
Abstract: A vehicular engine automatic stop control apparatus has a coast stop controller that performs a coast stop control of stopping an engine in response to a situation where driver's brake pedal operation is above a predetermined threshold value while a vehicle is traveling, a road surface gradient sensor that senses a road surface gradient, and a coast stop control cancellation unit that cancels the coast stop control in response to a situation where a first sensed value of the road surface gradient is above a predetermined cancellation threshold value in absolute value. The first sensed value of the road surface gradient is obtained at a first time instant when the vehicle becomes stationary in a situation where the engine has been stopped by the coast stop controller.

  • Patent number: 8720851
Abstract: When a valve body is rotated toward a full-close position in a valve-close mode, a control portion controls an electric motor so that the rotating speed of the valve body is lower than that in a valve-open mode. A rotating speed of the valve body around the shaft in the valve-close mode is lower than that in the valve-open mode. Thus, when the seal ring is brought into contact with the inner wall surface, an impact generated therebetween can be moderated. While the valve body is rotated toward the full-close position, a seal ring is gradually elastically deformed. A sliding friction between the seal ring and the inner wall surface can be reduced.
