  • Patent number: 5250127
Abstract: A method of manufacturing shielded flat cable comprising a plurality of tape form conductors, arranged in a horizontal plane, and in parallel fashion, and insulation cladding which covers the surfaces of the conductors and is unitary in structure, and using a cladding cable which is formed by the placing of a tear-away wire, comprising materials having a greater physical strength than the insulation cladding, between at least one of the plurality of the conductors and the insulation cladding covering this conductor, in which, in the exposure of a conductor which is overlaid by the tear-away wire, the tear-away wire, along with the area of the insulation cladding which overlays this tear-away wire, is pulled in an angled direction with respect to the surface, and after this a shield layer comprising conductive materials and having a tape form is laid on the surface of the cladding cable and the shield layer is brought into electrical contact with the exposed conductor.

  • Patent number: 4884290
Abstract: A method of analyzing a composition of an optical fiber base material to be measured by radioactive rays, which comprises the steps of irradiating radioactive rays from a radiation generator to the composition containing a plurality of elements or the substance, emitting the transmitted rays of the base material to a plurality of single crystals to produce several types of transmitted rays of specific energy, and measuring the transmitted rays by a radiation detector to analyze the compositions of the constituent elements in the base material. Thus, this method can accurately and economically analyze the composition in response to the constituent elements of the composition and the thickness of the composition.

  • Patent number: 4552576
Abstract: A method of fabricating an optical glass base material by injecting and depositing fine glass particles produced by chemically reacting glass stock which comprises means for growing the fine glass particles in a depositing direction to form porous rod-shaped base material, support means for supporting the porous rod-shaped base material after growing, and heat treatment means for sintering at least the outer periphery of the rod-shaped base material in a semisintering state before supporting the rod-shaped base material by said support means to harden the same. Thus, since the rod-shaped base material is held in the stable state through the support means, the mechanical strength of the base material is strengthened strength by the semisintering hardening through the heat treating means before being supported by the support means, the base material is not deformed nor damaged in the supported state, and a large base material may be fabricated.

  • Patent number: 4179083
Abstract: This invention relates to a wire forcing device on a distributor of a wire take up apparatus to take up a wire such as an electric cable on a reel in an arranged manner. The wire forcing device has wire engaging means to force a first turn of a wire winding layer against either end of the reel. The wire engaging means may comprise a pair of guide members of the distributor, or may be separate from the guide members. If the wire engaging means comprises the guide members of the distributor, while the wire is taken up on the reel between the flanges thereof, the wire engaging means guides the wire for transversely distributing the wire, and just before a first turn of a new winding layer begins to be wound adjacent to either of the reel flanges or while the first turn of the new winding layer is wound, either of the guide members forces the wire against the corresponding reel flange.

  • Patent number: 4034933
Abstract: In reel mounting means for a wire take up apparatus comprising a pair of spindles axially movable so that the opposing ends of said spindles are received into an axial hole in a reel and so that a relatively thicker wire such as an electric wire or an electric cable extending through an opening in one of the flanges of said reel with the end of said wire leading out of said reel flange is fixed between said reel flange and the corresponding spindle, characterized by that at least one of said spindles on the side facing the corresponding reel flange is provided with a pressurizing plate to be exerted so that it is pressed against said reel flange. The pressurizing plate includes a reel flange pressurizing body to be forced against said reel flange and a wire end securing body to force said wire end against said corresponding reel flange whereby it is fixed between said pressurizing plate and said corresponding reel flange.

  • Patent number: 3997128
Abstract: In an apparatus for taking up a relatively thicker wire such as an electric wire or an electric cable on a reel, comprising a distributor for distributing said wire along the axis of said reel, wire raising up detecting means is provided which electrically detects that a first turn of a new winding layer of said wire is being raised up on the reel adjacent to either of the flanges of said reel, so that it produces an electric signal to instruct said distributor to move in a reverse direction. The detecting means is characterized to comprise at least two adjacent arms pivotally mounted on a fixed axis parallel to the axis of said reel to be engaged against the wire wound on said reel; and an angular-electro converter to convert the angle at which said arms are pivotally moved relative to each other into an electric signal having the amplitude proportional to the angle.
