  • Publication number: 20050160044
Abstract: A controller in a hard disk serving as a data storage device stores a license including a content key for decrypting encrypted content data E and others in a secure data storage portion. The license is managed in the secure data storage portion in accordance with a LBA, and the LBA for storing the license, which is being processed for transmission, is stored as a log in a log memory of the secure data storage portion. When a failure occurs during the transmission processing, the license, which was being processed for transmission, is specified based on the LBA stored in the log memory.

  • Publication number: 20050157528
Abstract: An information recording apparatus is provided which can record broadcasting information so as to accurately identify and reproduce broadcasting information to be reduced while increasing convenience in reproducing the broadcasting information. Time control is performed during reproduction in allocation units ALU based on the receiving time of the first packet and the receiving time of the last packet in the allocation unit ALU included in the broadcasting information. The allocation unit ALU includes a plurality of packets. Time control is performed also in access units, each of which includes an I picture, based on the display time information or the receiving time information of the I picture included in the packet.

  • Publication number: 20050152672
Abstract: An information editing apparatus is provided which can prevent a thumbnail image, which shows the contents of recorded information recorded on an information recording medium, from being accidentally changed by a misoperation of the user. The information editing apparatus includes a deciding device 8 for deciding whether a thumbnail image can be changed or not based on change permission information, which indicates whether a change can be made on the thumbnail image showing the contents of recorded information recorded on a recording medium 1. When the deciding device 8 decides that a change is not permitted, a change of the thumbnail image is prohibited.

  • Publication number: 20050123272
Abstract: An information editing apparatus is provided which enables the user to clearly recognize the contents of recorded information which includes image information and is recorded on a recording medium. The information editing apparatus includes a first selecting device 14 for selecting a thumbnail image from images corresponding to the image information, the thumbnail image showing the contents of the recorded information recorded on a recording medium 1, a second selecting device 14 for selecting the thumbnail image from images other than the images corresponding to the image information in the recorded information, and a recording device 8 for recording first position information and second position information on the recording medium 1. The first position information indicates on the recording medium 1 the recording position of image information corresponding to the image selected by the first selecting device 14.

  • Publication number: 20050098300
Abstract: A heat sink including a base portion and a fin portion thermally contacted with the base portion. The inside of the base portion has at least one heat pipe, and a space (e.g., an air passage) formed around part of the peripheral portion of the heat pipe. The base portion is constructed of a first plate member that is contacted with a heat source, and a second plate thermally contacted with the fin portion. The heat pipe is placed between the first plate member and the second plate and is thermally contacted with them.

  • Publication number: 20040249993
Abstract: A controller of a recording device issues a secure command to a storage device, and then waits the time estimated necessary for the storage device to execute the secure command before issuing the next secure command. When a controller of the storage device is executing the previous command, it notifies the recording device of being in process. When the previous command has been completed normally, the controller moves to the next process. Information for estimating the execution time of the command is obtained from the storage device in advance.

  • Publication number: 20040250092
Abstract: A technology is provided to improve tamper resistance in encrypting data to be secured and inputting/outputting the data between a recording device and a host device. When the recording device issues an input/output command to a storage device to input/output data to be secured, the recording device attaches an ID to the command to identify to which cryptographic input/output processing the command belongs. Upon reception of a sequence command, the storage device receives the command if its ID has been allocated and the command is verified to have been issued in the correct sequence. The sequence ID is used to identify a process system while appropriately managing the steps of executing commands.

  • Publication number: 20040105331
Abstract: A recording area of a hard disk is managed “unit” by “unit” where a “unit” is constituted by physically continuous recording regions having predetermined size, and usage status of the unit is stored in an allocation unit (AU) management table. Data requiring a real time processing is stored unit by unit. When the usage status of the unit is changed or modified due to the recording or deletion of data, the AU management table is updated and then information indicative of the fact that the AU management table has been updated is recorded. An apparatus where the final change is made is detected at the time the hard disk is inserted or a file system is initialized. And if the apparatus which last made the change adopts the file system which does not use the AU management table, then the table is reconfigured so as to retain the consistency of the AU management table.

  • Patent number: 6242097
Abstract: There is disclosed a cable having a covering layer on the outside of a multicore stranded wire composed of plural insulated conductors that are intertwined, wherein at least an outermost layer of the covering layer is made of a crosslinked product of a resin composition containing (a) 10 to 60% by weight of a polyamide elastomer made up of a block copolymer whose hard segment is a polyamide, (b) 5 to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic polyurethane resin, (c) 10 to 60% by weight of a thermoplastic polyester elastomer, and (d) 0 to 20% by weight of a thermoplastic styrene elastomer. The airtightness and the watertightness at the interface between the cable and a molded body are kept for extended periods without taking any particular sealing measures. The corrosion of the conductors in the cable and the deterioration of the performance of the connected parts of machinery and tools can be prevented, and the cable has excellent water resistance.
