Patent number: 5216421Abstract: An indicator assembly for watercraft having an engine is provided. The indicator assembly comprises a first detector for detecting an operating condition of the watercraft, such as a fluid level, an indicator for indicating this detected operating condition, a switching assembly for actuating the indicator, a second detector for outputting a signal to the switching assembly when the engine is in the on or running state. The indicator assembly is designed so that the switching assembly actuates the indicator when the switching assembly receives the signal from the second detector but does not actuate the indicator when the signal is not received by the switching assembly after a predetermined time.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1990Date of Patent: June 1, 1993Assignee: Moriyama Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ryoji Sawada, Satoshi Yamamoto

Patent number: 5103673Abstract: A fluid level indicator for a small watercraft is provided which can be used to effectively detect and indicate a fluid level in a small watercraft even when the watercraft is experiencing severe rocking or up and down movements during operation and which is able to detect and distinguish the fluid level at a number of different positions. The fluid level indicator comprises a fluid level detector which includes a guide member, preferably cylindrical, generally vertically disposed in a fluid tank. A plurality of floats each having a magnet are slidably received for movement along the guide member within a designated section. In the illustrated embodiments, reed type switches one or more of which are associated with each of the floats are positioned within the guide member for detecting the position of the corresponding float along the guide. An indicator plate, preferably of the LDC type, is operatively connected to the fluid level detector for indicating the detected fluid level in the tank.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1990Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Assignee: Moriyama Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ryoji Sawada, Satoshi Yamamoto

Patent number: 4956997Abstract: A vessel speed detecting device that incorporates an arrangement for providing a more accurate speed indication from a pressure transducer under the condition of abrupt vessel speed changes. The output signal from the pressure transducer is modified under these conditions to provide the more accurate speed indication signal. The abrupt vessel speed change is determined by comparing the output of the speed indicator with a previously memorized speed indication signal. The modified speed indication is obtained from a memory.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1988Date of Patent: September 18, 1990Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiro Nakamura, Tatsuya Yoshioka, Ryoji Sawada, Tomoji Nakamura

Patent number: 4943777Abstract: A battery voltage condition indicator in which the battery voltage is periodically sampled and a warning indication is given if the battery voltage falls below a predetermined relatively high value for relatively short periods of time or a predetermined higher voltage value for longer periods of times. In addition, a warning signal is also given in the event an open circuit occurs.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1989Date of Patent: July 24, 1990Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiro Nakamura, Tatsuya Yoshioka, Ryoji Sawada, Tomoji Nakamura

Patent number: 4932249Abstract: A speedometer form watercraft wherein a speed signal is derived from a water pressure signal which is transmitted to the indicator through a conduit so that long electrical lines are not required.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1989Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Assignees: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiro Nakamura, Ryoji Sawada, Tomoji Nakamura

Patent number: 4914946Abstract: A vessel speed indicating device including a semiconductor pressure detector that detects dynamic pressure and outputs a signal indicative of this pressure. A speed indicator and calculator is incorporated which senses when the speed is below a speed at which high accuracy can be expected and outputs a warning signal in the event of that condition. Alternatively, when the device is operating in a range where the speed signal is accurate, actual speed is indicated.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1988Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiro Nakamura, Tatsuya Yoshioka, Ryoji Sawada, Tomoji Nakamura

Patent number: 4914945Abstract: A number of embodiments of watercraft speed detecting devices embodying a dynamic semiconductor pressure sensor that has high accuracies at most speed ranges and another speed sensor that has a higher degree of accuracy than the semiconductor pressure sensor at a certain range and that speed is displayed at that certain range. The other speed sensor may be of a wide variety of types such as a magnetic current meter, a propeller type speed sensor, or a tachometer that is driven by the engine and associated circuitry for calculating watercraft speed from engine speed.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1988Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiro Nakamura, Tatsuya Yoshioka, Ryoji Sawada, Tomoji Nakamura

Patent number: 4916644Abstract: A watercraft speed sensor that drives a speed signal from water pressure generated by the movement of the watercraft through the water. Several embodiments of arrangements are disclosed for obtaining an ambient reference signal which is subtracted from the measured pressure signal in order to obtain a greater degree of accuracy for changes in atmospheric conditions.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1988Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Sanshin Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tomoji Nakamura, Ryoji Sawada, Kazuhiro Nakamura, Tatsuya Yoshioka
