If a waiting time has elapsed during a power saving state in which power supply to the processing unit is decreased, the information processing apparatus cancels the power saving state. The information processing apparatus executes a head retraction in response to the cancellation of the power saving state. The information processing apparatus stops power supply to the storage unit in response to completion of the head retraction.
