  • Patent number: 5999774
Abstract: A serial electrophotographic apparatus has a carriage which is translated in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which recording paper is transported, a processing part effects electrophotographic printing, and a fixing unit effects fixing, wherein a fixing roller is heated by an induction coil according to an induction heating process, and a current supplied to the induction coil is cut off by a temperature fuse being blown when the temperature of the induction coil rises above a predetermined level. The induction coil has a configuration including multiple flat winding layers serially connected together and wherein ends of the induction coil are led out from the center of the windings so that temperature rise is restrained.

  • Patent number: 5701555
Abstract: A conveying unit conveys a recording sheet. A carriage comprises a process unit for forming a latent image and developing it so as to produce a developed image on an image carrier having a rotation axis parallel to a direction along which the conveying unit conveys the recording sheet, and a fixing unit using a fixing member for fixing the developed image to the recording sheet after the developed image has been transferred to the recording sheet. A transfer unit transfers the developed image produced on the image carrier to the recording sheet. A moving unit moves the carriage on the transfer unit along a direction perpendicular to the direction along which the conveying unit conveys the recording sheet, the carriage thus repeating a go-and-return operation in which the carriage fixes a line of the developed image onto the recording sheet while moving and then returns to a predetermined position. A heating unit heats the fixing member to a predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 5612767
Abstract: An image forming device includes a conveying unit for conveying a recording sheet in a predetermined direction, a light-exposure unit for forming an image on an image-holding body by using light, which image-holding body rolls on the recording sheet by rotating around an axis parallel to the predetermined direction, so that the image on the image-holding body is transferred onto the recording sheet, and an adjustment unit for adjusting an angle of the light-exposure unit relative to the axis, so that the image on the image-holding body can be aligned with the axis.

  • Patent number: 5604568
Abstract: A conveying unit conveys a recording sheet in a sheet conveying direction. A carriage includes a processing unit including an image carrier which is rotated about a rotational axis parallel to the sheet conveying direction. The processing unit forms a latent image on the image carrier by electrically charging and developing the latent image so as to produce a developed image. A transfer unit transfers the developed image on the image carrier to the recording sheet as a result of inserting the recording paper between the image carrier and said transfer unit as the carriage moves on the recording sheet in a carriage moving direction. A fixing unit fixes the developed image onto the recording sheet, and a supporting member rotatably supports the processing unit and the fixing unit. A moving unit moves the carriage in the carriage moving direction which is perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction.

  • Patent number: 5552868
Abstract: This invention relates to an electrophotographic device in which a latent image is formed on a recording drum by toner material. The invention prevents unused toner from being attached to the recording drum so that the quality of an image formed can be improved. In this invention, a carriage is conveyed in a perpendicular direction to a feeding direction of recording paper for printing thereon. A developing roller of a developing device mounted in a process portion is wider than an effective imaging area of the recording drum and is narrower than a charged area thereof. Also, sealing members can be provided at both end surfaces of the developing roller.

  • Patent number: 5552862
Abstract: The quality of an image can be improved by adjusting the print. When a carriage of an electrographic device is conveyed in a perpendicular direction to the feeding direction of the recording paper for exposure, development and photographic fixing, temperature and/or himidity is detected to determine an absolute humidity. The feeding amount of the paper is altered. A new feeding amount of the recording paper is determined in consideration of the altered feeding amount of the recording paper. Accordingly, the effect of shrinkage of the recording paper can be avoided, each image line can be arranged continuously and the quality of the image can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5450215
Abstract: A color reading apparatus comprises a light source section, an electric charge accumulating section, a signal generating section and an electric charge disposal section. The light source section effects irradiations and non-irradiations of a R light beam, a G light beam and a B light beam in sequence. The electric charge accumulating section accumulates electric charges per light beam by receiving the respective light beams irradiated sequentially by the light source section. The signal generating section generates a first reading signal for reading the accumulation electric charge of the electric charge accumulating section during the irradiation of each light beam and, at the same time, generates a second reading signal for reading an afterglow electric charge of the electric charge accumulating section during the non-irradiation of each light beam.
