    Abstract: A fastening device molded of a synthetic resin material and adapted to be engaged with a large number of loops on one surface of a fastener part of a mating member includes a base member having on its one surface a large number of hooks integrally molded with the base member and arranged in a plurality of rows. The hooks in each hook row generally have the same hook direction aligned with an axis of the hook row, and the hooks in one hook row and the hooks in an adjacent hook row do not always have the same hook direction. At least one hook in each hook row which is adjacent to a peripheral edge of the base member have a hook direction facing outwardly away from the peripheral edge. With this arrangement, the hooks located adjacent to the peripheral edge are capable of withstand undue force tending to fatigue and eventually break the hooks.

    Abstract: A joint structure for joining two panel-like components includes a fitting pin member having a flange portion and pin portions equivalent to a dowel. One strip of a surface-type fastener having a number of identical fastener elements is provided on opposite surfaces of the flange portion. A mating surface of each of the panel-like components has a recessed portion for being fitted with the flange portion, and a pin hole formed in a bottom surface of the recessed portion. The other strip of the surface-type fastener which is engageable with the surface-type fastener strip is disposed on the bottom surface of the recessed portion. The two surface-type fastener strips are firmly engaged together when the flange portion and the pin portions are fitted in the recessed portions and the pin holes, respectively, so that the two panel-like components are firmly joined together.

The surface fastener has a pair of upper (male) and lower (female) engaging members of the same structures, which are molded integrally and provided with a plurality of rows of hook elements on the surfaces of engaging base plates. Then, this arrangement unit has successively two hook elements of predetermined pitches and a spacing of two pitches length and is repeated in order continuously. The spacing signifies that one hook element is not present.

    Abstract: A surface fastener engaging member manufacturing method includes: extruding from an extrusion nozzle a predetermined width of molten resin; introducing the molten resin into a predetermined gap between the extrusion nozzle and a die wheel to fill up coupling element molding cavities with the molten resin as the die wheel rotates in one direction; continuously molding a multiplicity of coupling elements integrally on the front surface of a continuous board-shaped base layer as the die wheel is rotated; applying a porous backing material to the base layer under pressure while the base layer is moved in response to the rotation of the die wheel; cooling the die wheel to a predetermined temperature; and positively pulling the base layer with the backing material attached thereto as cooled, from the die wheel as the molded coupling elements of the engaging section are removed off the coupling element molding cavities.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for easily producing a double-sided surface fastener molded integrally in a simple process, which provides easy disengagement in spite of high engaging strength and high durability in repetitive use. A molten resin is extruded from an extrusion nozzle at the predetermined width and is introduced into a predetermined gap between upper and lower die rollers which are disposed up and down with the gap and are provided with a plurality of engaging element forming cavities on the respective peripheries and cooling means in the inner portions. The upper and lower die rollers are concurrently driven and rotated in the extrusion direction of the molten resin while filling the engaging element forming cavities with the molten resin, so that a plurality of hook elements are continuously molded integrally on the both front and back surfaces of a plate-like base portion and are cooled to the predetermined temperature.

A flexible sealing flange is formed on the tape for protecting the hooks against leakage therein of the molding material during the molding operation in which cooperating halves of the mold are closed with pressure-applying means engaged with and urging the tape against a flexible bottom wall of the cavity mold.

By a combined motion of pivotal movement of the lever and the kick-out arm in response to the action of the first and second cylinders, the head of the kick-out arm is moved so as to push the spool on its peripheral edge to start rotation of the spool.

    Abstract: At least one, preferably two or more, reels are coaxially mounted on a carriage such as a handcart for rotation independently of each other in order to wind surface type fastener tapes or like strips to be transported from one processing station to another. Disposed in a preassigned position, a driving and braking mechanism comprises a plurality of carrier arms each medially pivoted on a fixed support for oscillation about an axis parallel to the axis of the reels. Each carrier arm has a drive roll and a brake mounted on its opposite ends. As the carrier arm is oscillated as by a fluid actuated cylinder, the drive roll and the brake roll are alternately movable into and out of frictional engagement with the periphery of the flange of one associated reel. Thus, for winding one or more strips on one or more reels, the associated carrier arm or arms may be swung in a direction required to move the drive roll or rolls thereon into driving engagement with the reel or reels.
