  • Patent number: 7522364
Abstract: To reduce power consumption of an information storage device, a control circuit for the information storage device stops the supply of a formatter clock or an ECC unit clock simultaneously with a seek operation. When a clock stop time has elapsed by the time obtained by subtracting at least a time required for restarting the formatter or the ECC unit from a seek time, the control circuit restarts the supply of the formatter clock or the ECC unit clock.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7441050
Abstract: In a data processing system that processes serial data transferred from a processor formed as one chip and transmits the resultant data to another chip, a data output processing unit that processes serial data transferred from a single processor or a plurality of processors comprises a bank designation serial data holder that temporarily holds bank designation serial data with which an address of a bank is designated and which is transferred from the processor, and a bank designation serial data comparator that compares a designative value represented by current bank designation serial data, which is currently held, with a designative value represented by the last bank designation serial data that is immediately previously held. If the two designative values are verified to agree with each other, the current bank designation serial data is not transmitted but only current register designation serial data with which a register is designated is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 7164261
Abstract: A resonance-frequency measuring method is used for measuring a resonance frequency of an information recording/reproducing device reproducing information recorded on a medium by driving a mechanism unit. The resonance-frequency measuring method includes the measuring step of applying sine-wave oscillations at different frequencies one by one to the mechanism unit, and counting the number of times information reproduced upon application of each of the sine-wave oscillations differs from information indicating an aimed location, and the resonance-frequency determining step of determining the resonance frequency according to the number of times counted in the measuring step.

  • Patent number: 7050250
Abstract: There are provided a storage apparatus and a computer-readable recording medium, on whose storage areas, servo frames are arranged at uniform intervals in a spoke-like pattern. Each of the servo frames has an index bit storing section storing, as an index bit, part of an index pattern, which is operable to identify a storage area. The apparatus and the recording medium have a storage area recognizing unit for recognizing the storage areas based on the index bits, which are obtained by an index bit obtaining unit. The index bits, stored one in each of the index bit storing sections of the servo frames, are adapted to form, when being sequentially arranged, an index bit string in which such an index pattern repeatedly appears.
