  • Patent number: 7753019
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmission assembly (34), for imparting a phase difference between an outer wheel and an inner wheel of a spline VVT. The assembly comprises a tubular meshing member (36) having an inner surface (38) and an outer surface (40), wherein at least a portion of the inner surface is provided with a first spline (42) and at least a portion of the outer surface is provided with a second spline (44). The first spline and the second spline do not have the same pitch in the same groove direction. The transmission assembly further comprises a bearing arrangement (46) and an actuation member (48). The bearing arrangement is arranged between the meshing member and the actuation member to allow a transfer of an axial displacement of the actuation member to the meshing member and allow a rotation of the meshing member relative to the actuation member.

  • Patent number: 6705560
Abstract: A method is provided for switching reels in a paper machine that includes applying an adhesive onto a continuously running paper web to begin a new paper roll and severing the continuous paper web from the tail end of the newly completed roll. The running paper web is supported by a reel drum and wound onto exchangeable reel shafts in contact with the reel drum in order to form rolls of paper. A hopper with a heater heats an adhesive agent to temporarily lower its viscosity and stickiness for smooth and even applying. A pair of nozzles, mounted on a pair of rodless cylinders and translating therewith, spray jets containing said adhesive onto the web and/or the reel shaft. The web is then advanced onto the reel shaft thereby forming an adhesive interface between the web and the shaft. Tension is applied across the adhesive interface to sever the paper web at the adhesive interface, thereby separating the trailing end of the paper web of the previously completed roll from the current paper roll.

  • Patent number: 6397820
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for controlling an internal combustion engine in a vehicle which include detecting the value of a variable associated with an operating condition of the engine including the rotational speed and the load of the engine, determining a temperature value of a temperature-critical component associated with the engine, and controlling the thermal load of the engine based upon the predetermined temperature value by adding surplus fuel to the engine in a manner which gradually increases the supply of the surplus fuel based upon the value of the predetermined variable derived from the inherent thermal inertia in the temperature-critical component. Apparatus for controlling the engine in the vehicle is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6398913
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of recovering energy in a forming section of a papermaking or boardmaking machine, wherein stock from a headbox is fed into a forming zone of a forming section, said forming zone including at least one looped forming fabric curving along a convex surface of a support member, and water is drained from the stock through said at least one forming fabric in the forming zone to form a paper or board web, the water passing through said at least one fabric being thrown out from the forming zone and possessing kinetic energy, characterized by placing a movable component in the water thrown out from the forming zone, so as to cause the water to move the component, and thereby recovering part of the kinetic energy. The invention also relates to an arrangement in a papermaking or boardmaking machine.
