  • Publication number: 20130323706
Abstract: This patent refers to a method of achieving greater quality assurance of teaching in classroom settings by the use of an electronic performance management system; the basis being modifying the use and nature of presentation slides. Essentially, this patent deals with timed presentation slides and interactive elements within these slides. Each slide is assigned an estimated duration and then compared with actual recorded duration; furthermore, certain words within the slide are made interactive. Based on this comparison and whether the interactive words are stimulated, the proposed software allows real-time monitoring of teaching variables such as coverage, depth, contact hours, etc. This patent also incorporates predictions of these teaching variables at future times by extrapolation of teaching trends modelled on the use of timed slides and interactive elements. Also included is a method for the creation of timed slides and interactive elements by use of a toolbar alongside standard presentation software.

  • Publication number: 20120047447
Abstract: A system that allows users to convey their emotional state of mind by means of selecting their mood from a toolbar when using applications such as instant messaging, SMS, MMS, emails, blogs, commenting etc. Different moods appear as different icons or in a drop-down box as text. Emotion intensity can be changed by a sliding bar present on the toolbar. The sender will have the option to display their mood for that certain message as an emotion label displayed with the message and also by message text formatting: font face and color are emotion dependant whereas font size and tone (lighter/darker shades for the same color) are intensity dependant. This messaging technique allows the recipient to gauge better the sender mood, it can also be used to dynamically determine population mood and extract and plot statistical data on mood/emotion distribution maps, charts or graphs for analysis, interpretation, research and marketing.

  • Publication number: 20110209041
Abstract: Disclosed is a discrete voice-activated navigation software enabling users to navigate through web-pages displayed in an internet browser by simply uttering a discrete character assigned to a hyperlink by an algorithm. This algorithm scans a webpage locating text hyperlinks and identifying any unique letter(s) within the hyperlink, i.e. all characters are matched against a database of already used tags in order to find a unique character. If available, it is assigned. If no single character is available, then a continuous set of double and if needed triple lettered tags are assigned. Illustrative hyperlinks can be activated by the selection of tags on sideline grids providing a non-intrusive alternative to clicking. Logically, differences in emphasis, pronunciation, tone, amplitude and pitch are far too great to invoke the correct response if a whole word is said. Thus discrete characters would provide least audible differences resulting in minimal errors or processing difficulty.
