    Abstract: The present invention relates to substantially dry personal cleansing articles useful for cleansing the skin or hair. These articles are used by the consumer by wetting the substantially dry article with water and then rubbing the article against the skin or hair. The article comprises a water-insoluble substrate having non-fibrous polymeric raised areas on at least one surface of said water insoluble substrate that are formed of a polymeric material having a Shore A hardness of no more than about 80, and a lathering surfactant releasably associated with the substrate. Preferably, the articles of the present invention further comprise a conditioning component.
