  • Patent number: 7033094
Abstract: A paper cutter has a guide for guiding paper from a source of continuous paper in a forward feeding direction. A cutting tool disposed downstream of the guide partially cuts the continuous paper passing through the guide such that one portion of the paper remains uncut. Two or more projections extend inwardly into the guide and contact opposite surfaces of the continuous paper to impart thereto a resistance against forward feeding movement in response to a tensile force exerted on the continuous paper that has already passed through the guide so that the uncut portion of the continuous paper can be easily torn by the exerted tensile force. The projections are preferably inclined upwardly in the forward feeding direction to facilitate passage of the paper through the guide.

  • Patent number: 7002612
Abstract: A paper cutter has a guide for guiding continuous paper in a lengthwise direction from an inlet portion thereof to an outlet portion thereof. A cutting device disposed downstream of the guide outlet portion partially cuts the continuous paper after it passes through the guide and exits the guide outlet portion, the cutting device partially cutting the continuous paper in a widthwise direction thereof to form two separated cut portions joined at one widthwise end to an uncut portion. At least two projections protrude inwardly of the guide and contact opposite surface of the continuous paper as it passes through the guide. The projections are located in the widthwise direction of the guide so as to concentrate a tensile force applied in the lengthwise direction to the uncut portion of the partially cut continuous paper at the region where the two separate cut portions join the uncut portion to thereby facilitate tearing of the uncut portion of the partially cut continuous paper.

  • Publication number: 20030174198
Abstract: It is to provide a paper cutter which can tear an uncut portion of paper easily and prevent from reeling out the paper from the device even when the uncut portion of the partial cut paper is pulled straightly. In a paper cutter having a guide 21 for guiding continuous paper R and cutting means for cutting the continuous paper R passing through the guide 21 with its one portion uncut, two projections 2a and 2b protruding in contact with the both surfaces of the continuous paper R are provided on a path of passing the two separated portions and the root-around portion R2 in the vicinity of the root R0 of the continuous paper, and when the tensile force works on the continous paper R passing through the guide 21, owing to these projections 2a and 2b, the lower portion of the root-around portion R2 of the paper is downwardly drawn, hence to provide an aperture in the portion around the root R0.

  • Patent number: 6229558
Abstract: A printer has a printer body, a carriage for undergoing scanning movement over a print paper in a scanning direction, and a cassette removably connected to the printer body for storing print paper and having a code element indicative of photosensitive characteristics of the print paper. The print paper contains photosensitive microcapsules encapsulating a color developing material and a photo-curing material and has an image receiving layer for developing color by a reaction of the color developing material with the image receiving layer. The carriage has a light emitting element for emitting light of a preselected wavelength to which the photosensitive microcapsules are exposed to thereby form a latent image on the print paper. A photosensitive characteristics identifying mechanism is disposed on the carriage for reading the code element of the cassette to identify the photosensitive characteristics of the print paper.

  • Patent number: 6203222
Abstract: A head for a printer and an image processing system is provided in which light emitted from light emitting elements formed on a substrate of the head does not leak from pinholes of a non-corresponding light emitting elements and does not interfere with light emitted by other light emitting elements, so that satisfactory printing can be carried out. An aperture has on opposite ends sandwiching portions and covers a substrate to sandwich a carriage. Concave portions are formed correspondence with light emitting elements. Pinholes are provided in a front wall and an insulating black coat is formed on the surfaces of the concave portions to prevent a short circuit. Light from the light emitting elements which does not pass through the pinholes is absorbed by the surfaces of the concave portions.

  • Patent number: 5903298
Abstract: A line thermal printer comprises a frame, a platen supported by the frame for rotation, and a thermal head supported by the frame for pivotal movement into and out of pressure contact with the platen for recording printing data to a recording medium disposed between the thermal head and the platen. A leaf spring is disposed between the thermal head and the platen for resiliently pressing the thermal head into pressure contact with the platen. A pressing plate has a rotation shaft supported by the frame for pivotal movement for applying pressure to the leaf spring to resiliently press the thermal head into pressure contact with the platen. A head-up lever is integrally connected to an end of the rotation shaft of the pressing plate for pivoting the pressing plate to release the pressure applied to the leaf spring to release the thermal head from pressure contact with the platen.

  • Patent number: 5036338
Abstract: In a thermal color hard copy machine in which only one reversible motor is used for both driving a paper feed mechanism and a printing head driving mechanism for lifting and lowering a printing head thereof relative to a platen, the inertia of the printing head driving mechanism is precisely controlled by an inertia control device. In particular, this inertia control device controls the inertia of a one-way power transmission device generally provided in this type of printing head driving mechanism for precisely stopping the printing head at a predetermined position relative to the platen.
