  • Patent number: 7637342
Abstract: A straddle-type vehicle with a radiator having heightened support stiffness. An engine bracket extends vertically and has an upper portion mounted to a front end of a body frame and a lower portion suspending a front wall of an engine. The radiator includes an upper radiator arranged along a front surface of and mounted to the engine bracket, and a lower radiator.

Date of Patent: December 29, 2009
    Assignee: Yamaha Hatsudoki Kabushiki Kaisha
    Inventors: Sadamu Iwanaga, Masami Shinsho
  • Patent number: 7575083
Abstract: In order to reduce the influences of engine heat and vibration on a shift actuator, a shift actuator is disposed apart from the engine and the transmission on a vehicle. In particular a straddle-type vehicle, the vehicle includes a head pipe and a body frame including a main frame that extends rearward from the head pipe. The engine is suspended by the body frame 2 and a transmission is disposed next to the engine. The transmission includes a shift mechanism having a multiple-step speed change gear and a clutch mechanism that interrupts the transmission of rotation at the switching of the speed change gear of the transmission 40. An automatic transmission control unit operates the clutch mechanism and switches the speed change gear of the transmission automatically.

  • Patent number: 7556115
Abstract: A vehicle body cooling structure for a motorcycle comprises a cooling air passage that extends between an engine and a fuel tank in the front-and-rear direction. A cowling covers the front part of the vehicle body, which contains the engine. The vehicle body cooling structure also comprises a heat blocking member that covers an upper part of the engine. The cooling air passage is separated into an engine side cooling air passage and a fuel tank side cooling air passage by the heat blocking member.

  • Patent number: 7520359
Abstract: A motorcycle 1, in which rear portions of glove bars 2 and a seat cowl 24 are formed integrally, and front and rear portions of the glove bars 2, respectively, are mounted to a body frame 8. Accordingly, with the motorcycle 1, while reduction in cost is achieved, any clearance is prevented from being formed at connecting portions of the glove bars and the seat cowl to mar an outward appearance, and a load applied to the seat cowl from the glove bars is decreased, thus leading to reduction of the seat cowl in weight.

  • Patent number: 7458436
Abstract: A motorcycle includes a rear arm, at one end of which a rear wheel is axially supported and the other end of which is pivotally supported by a body frame via a pivotally supporting shaft. A spring unit is interposed between the rear arm and the body frame so as to be located between the pivotally supporting shaft and the rear wheel. A lock arm placing section houses a lock arm for theft prevention having left and right arm sections and a bent section coupling ends of the left and right arm sections to each other. The lock arm placing section houses the lock arm in a position in which the left and right arm sections of the lock arm are located on both sides of the spring unit.
