The activator is supplied form a plurality of discharge holes (121) bored in a pipe (122) and is once received by a receiving portion (124). The activator is diffused horizontally and flows downwardly through a plurality of openings (123) bored at the bottom of the receiving portion onto a coating roller (125). The activator is diffused again at the contact between the coating roller and a diffusion film (126) and is coated to the photosensitive material by the coating roller.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a method for electrophotographic wet reversal development comprising charging an electrophotographic photoreceptor comprising a substrate and a photosensitive layer coated thereon, exposing the electrophotographic photoreceptor to form an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photosensitive layer, and developing the electrostatic latent image by carrying the electrophotographic photoreceptor through a wet reversal developing device having a developing electrode in substantially a linear form having a projected width of 30 mm or less and applying a bias voltage to said developing electrode. Usually, the bias voltage applied is 80% or more of the surface potential of the photoreceptor and the development is carried out by passing the photoreceptor at a rate of 0.5-20 m/min through the developing device. This method produces images with less edge effect and excellent tone reproduction. The developing electrode is simplified resulting in improved maintainability.

The method includes the steps of supplying a solvent for liquid developer to a pair of squeeze rollers thereby to clean the rollers with the solvent; isolating the squeeze rollers from each other; and allowing one of the rollers which contacts with photosensitive surface of photoreceptor and the cleaning pad to contact with each other thereby to clean the roller kept isolated from the other squeeze roller by the cleaning pad. The invention further provides a liquid electrophotographic developing apparatus for carrying out the method.
