  • Patent number: 4529393
Abstract: An infinitely variable belt-drive transmission for a vehicle, having a clutch for transmitting engine power to wheels of the vehicle, a drive pulley having a hydraulically shiftable disc and a hydraulic cylinder for shifting the disc, a driven pulley having a hydraulically shiftable disc and a hydraulic cylinder for shifting the disc, and a belt engaged with said both pulleys. The transmission comprises an input shaft connected to a driven member of the clutch, a main shaft connected to the drive pulley and a drive gear secured to the input shaft. A synchronizer is securely provided on the main shaft to be engaged with the drive gear, and a counter gear engage with the drive gear. An idler gear is provided to be engaged with a gear on the synchronizer and with a gear of the counter gear so as to provide a reverse drive transmission.

  • Patent number: 4473142
Abstract: A parking system for a vehicle having a fluid operated clutch or electromagnetic clutch. A shifter arm is rotatably and axially slidably mounted on a shaft and a link mechanism is provided for transmitting the operation of the gear shaft lever to the shifter arm for rotating and sliding it. In a transmission of the vehicle, a parking shifter rail provided for parking operation is connected to the shifter arm by a fork. A parking pawl operatively engages the parking shifter rail, and a parking gear in the transmission engages the parking pawl. When the gear shift lever is shifted to the parking position, the parking pawl is rotated by the movement of the parking shifter rail and engaged with the parking gear. Thus, the transmission system of the vehicle is locked by the parking pawl.

  • Patent number: 4450734
Abstract: A transmission apparatus for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine transversely disposed in the vehicle at an end portion thereof, a transmission transversely disposed and connected to the crankshaft of the engine at one end portion of the transmission, a final reduction gear engaged with an output gear of the transmission, the output gear being mounted on an output shaft of the transmission adjacent an end of the engine, a differential secured to a side of the final reduction gear, and an axle connected to the differential for one pair of the vehicle wheels. A transfer device is connected to another portion of the output shaft of the transmission. The transfer device comprises a transfer shaft, a gear train provided at the other end portion of the transmission, and a clutch device for engaging the gear train with the output shaft of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 4422520
Abstract: A transmission apparatus for a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine transversely disposed in the vehicle, a transmission transversely disposed and connected to the crankshaft of the engine through a clutch, a final reduction gear engaged with an output gear of the transmission, a differential secured to a side of the final reduction gear and disposed at a substantially central position of the vehicle, and an axle connected to the differential. A transfer device is connected to the final reduction gear and disposed adjacent the differential. The transfer device comprises a supporting shaft, a gear engaged with the final reduction gear, a clutch, and a first bevel gear. A second bevel gear is engaged with the first bevel gear, and a centrally located propeller shaft is operatively connected to the second bevel gear for driving another axle for the four-wheel drive.

  • Patent number: 4421335
Abstract: A control mechanism for a transmission apparatus for a four-wheel drive motor vehicle comprising an auxiliary change-speed transmission adapted to transmit power from the engine to a main transmission, a final reduction device for transmitting the output of the main transmission to the front axle and to the rear axle, a clutch connected to the final reduction device for transmitting the output of the main transmission for selectively connecting or disconnecting transmission of the output to one of the axles. An operation rod is longitudinally and slidably provided for swinging first and second guide plates. Each guide plate has a guide groove with which a part of a fork engages. By operating the operation rod, first and second guide plates are swung to cause the forks to shift with engagement with the guide grooves. The guide grooves are so arranged as to establish two-wheel high speed range driving, four-wheel high speed range driving and four-wheel low speed range driving.
