Abstract: This binder for toner preparation comprises as the main constituent thereof a polyester (X) composed of a polybasic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component with a rosin-modified polyhydric alcohol (ab) introduced as part of the polyhydric alcohol component. The rosin-modified polyhydric alcohol is prepared in advance by reacting a polyhydric alcohol (a) having three or more hydroxyl groups with a rosin type compound (b).

Abstract: There are provided binder resins for use in toner compositions which comprise, as the main component thereof, a terminally blocked polyester in which the terminal hydroxyl groups of polyester polyol molecules are blocked by a rosin compound selected from the group consisting of rosin, hydrogenated rosin and disproportionated rosin and which has an acid value of not more than 4 KOH mg/g and a hydroxyl value of not more than 20 KOH mg/g as well as toner compositions comprising them in combination of a coloring agent and a charge control agent.

Abstract: An drying resin composition comprises (A) at least one radical curable resin selected from the group consisting of an unsaturated polyester resin, an urethane-acrylic resin, a polyester-acrylic resin and an epoxy-acrylic resin, (B) an urethane-acrylic oligomer having 1.0 to 10.0 mmole/g of allyl ether groups and 0.2 to 5 mmole/g of (meth)acryloyl groups, (C) and ethylenically unsaturated monomer and (D) an initiator. The composition has an improved drying property and provides a coating film having improved flexibility, weatherability and water resistance.

Abstract: An unsaturated polyester resin coating composition comprises (A) 10 to 45 parts by weight of air dryable unsaturated polyester resin comprising a polybasic acid and a polyhydric alcohol, (B) 50 to 70 parts by weight of a filler and (C) 5 to 50 parts by weight of a vinyl monomer, the total amount of the components (A), (B) and (C) being 100 parts by weight; said unsaturated polyester resin (A) having (1) 10 to 50% of units of at least one member selected from the group consisting of cyclopentadiene and dicyclopentadiene and (2) 2 to 40% by units of an acyclic ether having allyl group and hydroxyl group, said % being % by mole based on said polybasic acid. The composition has an improved drying property and provides a coating film having an improved adhesion property to substrates, particularly in the wet state, and also to top coats, and having improved gloss and sharpness, and is particularly useful as a putty.
