  • Patent number: 5476424
Abstract: A vehicle power transmission apparatus is provided for maintaining a constant power output when driving a vehicle regardless of the change in the frictional force of the belt in a belt type stepless speed change device. A belt type stepless speed change device is used with a vehicle driving, prime motor on board a vehicle. The apparatus provides a flat characteristic segment covering at least a part of the power output characteristic relative to the revolutions of the vehicle driving prime motor. The apparatus allows the vehicle to be driven by a constant power output within the segment of the flat power output characteristic regardless of changes in the frictional force of the belt in the belt type stepless speed change device.

  • Patent number: 5421427
Abstract: A container and a charging unit are positioned on an electric vehicle in which only a limited space is available. The container is used for holding a helmet and other items and is disposed under a seat. A charging unit is disposed behind the container and above a rear wheel. Since a comparatively large space can be secured behind the container disposed under the seat, and above the rear wheel, the charging unit may be comparatively large.

  • Patent number: 4723619
Abstract: There is disclosed a cover structure in a power transmission device comprising a casing having an open side, a driver shaft rotatably supported by the casing, a driven shaft rotatably supported by the casing and drivable by the driver shaft, a power transmission mechanism housed in the casing for transmitting rotative power from the driver shaft to the driven shaft, a starter mechanism housed in the casing and engageable with the driver shaft for starting an engine, and cover means covering the open side of the casing. The cover means comprises a plurality of cover members, a cover member which supports the starter mechanism being securely coupled to the casing, the remaining cover member or members being coupled to the casing through a resilient member or members.

  • Patent number: 4593785
Abstract: A power unit particularly adapted to a three-wheel vehicle which employs a single cylinder, two-stroke engine driving a centrifugal clutch, a gear train and a drive shaft to one wheel. The drive shaft is rotatably mounted in a portion of the engine housing and is also rotatably mounted within a coaxial bore through one end of the crankshaft. A spaced rear wheel on the other side of the engine is freewheeling. To accommodate the asymmetric power to one rear wheel, the drive shaft, the crankshaft and the engine cylinder are canted from alignment with the centerline of the vehicle to provide the appropriate toe-in.

  • Patent number: 4570506
Abstract: An operating wire control device for a brake system having an adjust lever rotatable in accordance with the stroke of an inner wire. An adjuster is rotatable by the rotation of the adjust lever and an adjust bolt is movable upon rotation of the adjuster to alter the relative length of the inner wire and an outer wire. The adjust lever comprises a first lever having an abutment member for detecting the stroke of the inner wire and a second lever having a ratchet pawl engaged with a ratchet tooth on a ratchet wheel formed integrally on the adjuster. The second lever is longer than the first lever. An adjust lever spring is provided between the first and second levers, while a return spring extends between the second lever and a housing. The adjust lever spring has a spring force which becomes smaller than that of the return spring when the inner wire has been pulled beyond a prescribed stroke.

  • Patent number: 4543849
Abstract: An automatic adjusting device which is disposed midway of a control wire connecting an actuating mechanism such as a brake and an operating lever. The automatic adjusting device automatically compensates not only the internal wear of the actuating mechanism but also the extension of the control wire so that it can always take up any excessive play or slack of the control wire to thereby impart to the operating lever a minimum play, which corresponds to the proper ineffective stroke of the actuating mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4456101
Abstract: A vehicular brake operating system which comprises a wheel brake, an operating member, a control wire connecting the wheel brake and the operating member and including an outer wire and an inner wire fitted in the former, and an adjusting device disposed midway of the control wire for automatically adjusting a play of the operating member to a proper level in response to the operation of the control wire.

  • Patent number: 4442923
Abstract: An automatic regulator for an internally expanding drum brake capable of automatically controlling the amount of play or ineffective stroke of a brake wire to a predetermined value so that an intended braking effect can be always produced with a definite stroke of the brake wire irrespective of wear on the linings of brake shoes or permanent expansion of the brake wire. A brake lever is operatinely connected with the brake shoes housed in a brake drum so that the brake lever is pivoted by operation of the brake wire to outwardly expand the brake shoes to place the shoe linings into frictional engagement with a brake surface of the brake drum. The return angle of the brake lever upon a brake releasing operation is rendered constant by a stopper mechanism. The brake wire comprises an inner wire member connected to the brake lever, and an outer wire member slidably fitted over the inner member and urged by a compression spring in a direction away from the brake lever.

  • Patent number: 4165728
Abstract: A decompressing device adapted for use in engines for prime mover-equipped bicycles. The decompressing device is operatively connected with the shifting operation of changing the bicycle running over to the engine power running, and the decompressing operation is automatically performed within a predetermined period in the initial starting period of the engine. The decompression is performed simply, and automatically, without requiring special skill and technique.

  • Patent number: 4140195
Abstract: A power plant for prime mover-equipped bicycles wherein a bicycle running and engine running can be changed over to each other. The running speed can be changed over to a low speed and high speed. The power transmitting system, including the speed changing mechanism, can be made simple and compact in structure, and a jointless change having no neutral position in the speed changing operation is possible. It is further possible to feed and interrupt the fuel and to switch the current source on and off with the jointless change.
