The device also detects a load imbalance in the pool based on the estimated weight and weights associated with the other devices in the pool, and determines, based on the estimated load, a number of subscribers to offload from the device. The device further determines, based on the estimated weight and the weights associated with the other devices, to which of the other devices to offload the determined number of subscribers, and offloads, to address the load imbalance, the determined number of subscribers to the determined other devices in the pool.

    Abstract: A method and node for supporting PDSN load optimization in a CDMA2000 network. The Packet Core Network Manager calculates network statistics and uses the resulting numbers to set the PPP inactivity timer depending on the load on the PDSN. In a preferred embodiment, the calculation gives the mean value of the durations of the PPP sessions (KPI1), and the corresponding standard deviation (KPI2). The PPP inactivity timer is then set to M*(KPI1+KPI2) during low load, to M*KPI1 during normal load, and to M*(KPI1?KPI2) during heavy load, where 0<M<=1, preferably depending on the distribution of the subscriber inter-arrival time.

    Abstract: A method for analyzing a traffic of encrypted packet data sent over a Packet Core Network (PCN) and a traffic analysis device are provided. The method utilizes a traffic analysis device for listening to the traffic of encrypted packet data. The method further authenticates the traffic analysis device with at least one packet data node of the PCN, and sends a code from the at least one packet data node to the traffic analysis device for allowing decryption of the encrypted packet data at the traffic analysis device. The traffic analysis device analyzes the decrypted packet data. Afterwards, the method utilizes the traffic analysis device for separating instrumentation and a packet data node function for at least one packet data node.

    Abstract: A method, system and Policy Decision Point (PDP) for policy-based test management wherein high-level test goals are first defined, and high-level test policies are next created based upon the test goals. The test policies are then converted into vendor and technology specific test scripts which are transmitted, along with the test policies, from a test management tool, to a PDP such as for example to a test server, to an Element Manager/Network Manager (EM/NM), or to a Network Element (NE), where they are stored. Upon detection of a given condition, the PDP-stored test policies trigger execution of one or more associated test scripts for testing a given network entity of a monitored network, and the test results are reported back to the test management tool.
