  • Publication number: 20240093785
Abstract: A seal for sealing a gap between rotatable shaft and a vessel wall includes an adapter plate fixed to the vessel wall. A stator plate is attached to the adapter plate. An interfacing boot rotates with the rotatable shaft and has a lip in sliding contact with the stator plate. A central boot is sealingly engaged with and rotates with the rotatable shaft. A drive ring rotates with and is axially movable with respect to the rotating shaft. An anchor ring is fixable non-rotatably and axially to the rotatable shaft. A bias member urges the anchor ring and the drive ring apart. A compression member compresses the bias member, and upon release the bias member urges the drive ring forwardly from the anchor ring. A sealing method includes steps for assembling the seal.

  • Patent number: 11035473
Abstract: A seal for placement between a cylindrical shaft and a drum rotatably mounted with respect thereto includes an outside end member with a shaft section, a bore and a gas input connection and an inside end member non-rotatably attached thereto and configured to engage the shaft section. An outer end seal and an inner end seal are slidably and rotatably engaged with the shaft section. A circumferential seal is configured to non-rotatably engage with the outer and inner end seals. An interference fit is formed in the axial direction between an inner assembly, comprising the circumferential seal and the outer and inner end seals, and the outside and inside end members. An interference fit also is formed radially between the circumferential seal and a drum of a mixing machine. A method provides a seal for placement between a cylindrical shaft and a drum rotatably mounted with respect to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 8490982
Abstract: The present invention relates to a windback device and method of use to prevent lubricant from leaking from a lubricant sump. More specifically, the present invention is comprised of a windback device within a lubricant sump formed from the coupling of an annular sump housing, an annular fluid seal assembly, and a bearing. The annular housing substantially surrounds the runner to form a chamber. The seal assembly is coupled to a sump housing both of which are adapted to receive a rotatable runner such that a sealed chamber is formed around the runner. A plurality of inclined threads extend along an inner face of the windback device and are angled such that lubricant or fluid splashed from the rotating shaft is redirected away from a shaft seal element of the annular fluid seal and through leak off slots leading to the sump housing chamber.
