  • Publication number: 20230216409
Abstract: A single inductor multiple output DC-to-DC converter may be configured as a buck-boost converter. The converter may include an inductor, a plurality of switches coupled to the inductor to control energizing and deenergizing phases of the inductor, and a plurality of output rails. Each of the plurality of output rails may include at least one switch, which is configured to connect the output rail to the inductor of the buck-boost converter. Depending on the energizing and deenergizing patterns of the inductor, and the state of the one or more switches, the various output rails may be supplied with a plurality of different output voltages and / or output currents. Any of a plurality of regulating strategies may be utilized to further control the output voltages and / or the output currents.

  • Patent number: 11356017
Abstract: A DC-DC converter converts voltage from a battery source providing a voltage Vin to a lower level. A four-level transistor stack selectively connects an input voltage and flying capacitor voltages to an output inductor. Stress reduction transistors limit the charging of the flying capacitors to Vin/3. The stress reduction transistors can also limit switching transistor voltages to Vin/3. Freewheel switches can be used to limit ringing in the output inductor.

  • Publication number: 20210152090
Abstract: A stacked voltage regulator (VR) that pre-charges inductor switching node to mitigate EOS. The stacked VR comprises at least three n-type devices (low-side) and three p-type devices (high-side) coupled in series. The three p-type stacked devices are part of a high-side of the VR. Node Vx coupling one of the n-type devices and one of the p-type devices is coupled to an inductor, which is also coupled to a load capacitor. During the inductor charging phase, in the low-to-high transition, a small p-type device is added to pre-charge the inductor switching node (Vx) from “0” to “VDD?Vth” through the low-side by connecting a generated mid-rail “Vdd” to the internal node of the n-type stack for a short period (e.g., about 50 ps). A controlled conductance modulation (CCM) scheme on the high-side top switch during the inductor charging phase is used to mitigate the ringing without controlling the gate drive strength.

  • Patent number: 10978947
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for a single-inductor multiple-output (SIMO) power converter with a cross-regulation switch. An example apparatus includes a power source and a SIMO power converter. The SIMO power converter includes an input node coupled to the power source, a first node, a second node, a ground node, and an inductor coupled between the first node and the second node. The single-inductor multiple-output power converter also includes a first switch coupled between the input node and the first node, a second switch coupled between the first node and the ground node, and a cross-regulation switch coupled between the input node and the second node.
