Abstract: According to embodiments described in the specification, a method, system and apparatus for associating vendor data with keywords in a wireless mobile communication device are provided. The method comprises: receiving an auction request comprising a keyword identifying a required offering and one or more parameters associated with the keyword, each parameter defining a required attribute of the offering; retrieving a plurality of vendor bids, each bid comprising one or more vendor parameters associated with the keyword, each vendor parameter defining an attribute of a vendor offering corresponding to the required offering; determining whether each of the vendor bids satisfies the required attributes defined by the parameters; and when the determination is affirmative for at least one vendor bid, transmitting vendor data for a vendor associated with the at least one vendor bid to the mobile electronic device for storage at the mobile electronic device in association with the keyword.

The summary is displayed via the electronic book reader.

Abstract: A method and system for acquisition of an application for installation on a communication device. The method comprises monitoring a frequency of a usage event at the communication device to infer a set of usage characteristics; triggering a search request to a computer server for applications associated with the set of usage characteristics, the triggering of the search request based on a predefined threshold related to the monitored frequency of the usage event; receiving at the communication device a search result compiled at the server computer, the search result including an application for installation thereon; and providing a notification, at a graphical user interface (GUI) of the communication device, of the application for installation thereon.

Abstract: Availability of a call for a mobile device can be signaled over a data channel; to avoid unnecessary airtime charges, an audio channel for the voice call is setup only if a user of the mobile device accepting the call. Responsive to the user accepting the call, the mobile device can signal to a network to establish the audio channel. Establishing the audio channel takes some time. The time in which the audio channel is established is used to output, at the mobile device, supplemental information received over the data channel, such as information about a calling party, such as directory information, organization information, and call history. The outputting of such information during this time period makes a user experience better, because the user is less likely to think that a call has failed by observing an unfilled delay between when the call was accepted through the user interface and when the audio channel is actually available to service the call.

Abstract: A sous chef method and system guides the preparation of a dish according to a recipe and using a communication device. The recipe is presented to direct the preparation of a dish in recipe steps; progress of the recipe steps is monitored; and one or more advertisements are presented in response to the progress. Monitoring may comprises receiving input indicating the progress and presenting one or more advertisements may be responsive to the input. The input may comprise cooking appliance data received from a cooking appliance in communication with the communication device. The communication device may configure the cooking appliance for operation in response to the recipe steps. An advertisement may be contextually selected for presentation in response to recipe data associated with the recipe. It may be presented interactively to invoke a communication function of the device, for example to conduct an e-commerce or other transaction.
