  • Patent number: 11343052
Abstract: A network device such as an evolved NodeB (eNB) or next generation NodeB (gNB) can configure a set of user equipment (UE) for cell reference signal (CRS) muting in order to provide better channel quality and power efficiency in communications. Where an eNB mutes CRS transmissions that are not needed by any UE, an improvement in downlink throughput and reduce connection drop rate can be generated. A CRS muting capability can be determined based on a user equipment (UE) capability information. According to the CRS muting capability of a UE, CRS muting can be generated in a physical channel outside of a narrow band (NB) or a wide band (WB) plus/minus X physical resource blocks (PRBs), wherein X is a non-negative integer, based on the CRS muting capability.

  • Publication number: 20220150802
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing timing information for initial access in an unlicensed band are described. A UE monitors a new radio discovery signal (NRDS-U) window in an unlicensed band for a DRS transmission that is constrained to be transmitted within the NRDS-U window. The UE determines initial access information, including an offset that indicates when the DRS transmission occurs within the NRDS-U window, and engages in initial access dependent on the offset. The offset is from a radio frame or half radio frame boundary or the start of the NRDS-U window. The offset is indicated in three least/most significant bits an SSB index or from an sl-offset field in a MIB of the SSB. When the base station uses a DFS channel, the base station transmits a periodic signal to emulate a radar signal.

  • Publication number: 20220131725
Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for use in a wireless network for generating and using slot format indicator (SFI) and channel occupancy time (COT) structure in new radio (NR) systems operating on unlicensed spectrum. For example, some embodiments are directed to a base station that includes radio front end circuitry and processor circuitry. The processor circuitry can be configured to generate a slot format indicator (SFI) associated with a channel occupancy time (COT) structure. The SFI indicates whether one or more slots associated with the COT structure are to be used for downlink (DL) symbols, uplink (UL) symbols, or flexible symbols. The flexible symbols form one or more gaps in the COT structure in response to the flexible symbols not being overridden as a DL transmission or a UL transmission. The processor circuitry can further be configured to transmit the SFI to a user equipment (UE).

  • Publication number: 20220110168
Abstract: An apparatus and system to permit a UE idle or inactive mode to operate as an URLLC initiating device operating in a shared spectrum in a PRACH procedure are described. The UE receives a gNB control signal that contains an indication that the UE is able to operate as an initiating device and in response transmits a physical random access channel (PRACH) message within a Fixed Frame Period (FFP) of the UE. Transmission of the PRACH message is contingent on non-overlap of the PRACH message transmission with the idle period of a gNB FFP.

  • Publication number: 20220104259
Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for use in a wireless network for grant based Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) transmission and configured grant based PUSCH transmission in new radio systems operating in an unlicensed spectrum. Some embodiments are directed to a user equipment (UE) that includes processor circuitry and radio circuitry. • Patent number: 11284372
Abstract: Systems and methods of reducing power consumption associated with paging or cDRX mode are described. A wake-up receiver (WUR) wakes up from an idle mode or cDRX state. Whether a wake-up signal (WUS) has been received by the WUR is determined. The WUS is a low-complexity signal that is less complicated than a PDCCH or PDSCH and is repeated multiple times at resource elements as indicated in a configuration from an eNB. If received, a baseband transceiver wakes up for reception of a PDCCH for the UE in a PO when the UE is in the idle mode or a PDSCH for the UE when the UE is in the cDRX state.

  • Publication number: 20220070840
Abstract: Systems and methods of early termination of uplink data transmissions for a UE are described. The UE transmits capacity information that indicates that the UE supports use of an ETS. The ETS indicates successful reception by the eNB of the uplink data prior to an end of a scheduled transmission period to transmit repeated instances of the data. The UE receives a schedule for repeated transmissions of the data that is based on a coverage level of the UE, and then transmits sets of one or more repetitions. After the transmission, the UE monitors a predetermined resource whether the ETS is present or whether the ETS indicates an ACK. If the ETS indicates successful reception, the UE terminates transmission of the remaining repetitions of the data and enters a sleep mode or transmits other uplink data.
