  • Patent number: 4806229
Abstract: A process for substantially neutralizing the volatile acid gases and water present in the condensate of a distilling pertroleum product which comprises treating the distilling product prior to the condensation thereof with at least one amine having a boiling point below 95.degree. C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 3, 1986
Date of Patent: February 21, 1989
    Assignee: Nalco Chemical Company
Inventors: Sam Ferguson, Kathryn G. Burns, Russell C. Strong
  • Patent number: 4758672
Abstract: 1,2-imidazolines are prepared by reacting gas oils containing naphthenic acid with polyamines. This reaction, in addition to forming imidazolines, reduces the acidity of the starting gas oils.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1987
Date of Patent: July 19, 1988
    Assignee: Nalco Chemical Company
Inventors: Sam Ferguson, Darrel D. Reese
  • Patent number: 4752381
Abstract: A method of neutralizing the organic acidity in petroleum and petroleum fractions to produce a neutralization number less than 1.0 whereby they are rendered suitable as lube oil feed stocks which comprises treating said heavy gas oils with a neutralizing amount of monoethanolamine to form an amine salt with the organic acids and then heating the thus-neutralized petroleum or petroleum fraction at a temperature and for a time sufficient to convert the amine salts to amides.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1987
Date of Patent: June 21, 1988
    Assignee: Nalco Chemical Company
Inventors: Sam Ferguson, Darrell D. Reese
