  • Publication number: 20160253871
Abstract: Secondary gaming functionality is implemented relative to a casino gaming machine by a secondary controller which is associated with the gaming machine. In this manner, primary gaming functionality, such as primary wagering games and the award of primary awards and/or player reward points, may be implemented by the main game controller of the gaming machine. In addition, however, secondary gaming functionality may also be implemented at the gaming machine, such as secondary wagering games and the award of secondary awards and/or player reward points, via the secondary controller. The secondary controller may only implement secondary gaming functionality in response to a secondary wager placed by a player beyond a primary wager which enables the primary gaming functionality.

  • Publication number: 20160240048
Abstract: Secondary gaming functionality is provided for a casino gaming machine by a secondary controller of the casino gaming machine. The secondary gaming functionality may function to provide a multi-game experience at the gaming machine or remotely at another gaming machine or other device, e.g., a smart phone, tablet, personal computer, and the like. The multi-game experience may comprise one or more additional instances of a wager-based video game provided by the primary gaming functionality of the gaming machine. The secondary gaming functionality of the gaming machine may cause the one or more additional instances of the wager-based video game to be presented at another device either directly or indirectly via a server, such as a social media server or a server-based gaming system's server.

  • Publication number: 20160180693
Abstract: An activity monitor which can be pre-programmed at the factory, the doctor's office or the pharmacist, or that can be programmed by the user. The activity monitor is affixed to a medicine bottle or container and activity associated with the bottle or container, such as movement, opening, volume changes, etc. are monitored in view to the schedule. If the schedule indicates that a dose of medicine should be taken at a particular time, but the monitored activity does not determine that the medicine has been taken, an alert signal will be issued to alert the user that it is time to take the medicine. In addition, if the monitored activity indicates that the medicine bottle has been opened prior to a scheduled time, then a tamper alert can be triggered.

  • Publication number: 20160148393
Abstract: A method of calculating a similarity measure between first and second image patches, which include respective first and second intensity values associated with respective elements of the first and second image patches, and which have a corresponding size and shape such that each element of the first image patch corresponds to an element on the second image patch. The method: determines a set of sub-regions on the second image patch corresponding to elements of the first image patch and having first intensity values within a range defined for that sub-region; calculates variance, for each sub-region of the set over all of the elements of that sub-region, of a function of the second intensity value associated with that element and the first intensity value associated with the corresponding element of the first image patch; and calculates similarity measure as the sum over all sub-regions of the calculated variances.

  • Publication number: 20160055724
Abstract: A video output signal analyzes that analyzes a video output signal to determine game play information. In video poker, card values and player strategies can be determined based on a “reverse encoding” of the video signal to determine the original video bitmap. The bitmap can then be analyzed to determine what is taking place during a game, without having to receive this information directly from the processing unit that is actually implementing the game.

  • Patent number: 9262887
Abstract: A player reservation feature is provided for a casino gaming machine by a secondary controller of the casino gaming machine. The player reservation feature may be accessed at the gaming machine or remotely at another gaming machine or other device, e.g., a smart phone, tablet, personal computer, and the like. The gaming machine is locked and unavailable for play except by the player that made the reservation. Reserving a gaming machine may be free, or a fee may be accessed for a reservation. Where a fee is assessed, the fee may be waived for a reserving player. Where the reservation feature is being accessed remotely, a casino floor map may be displayed at the device that is being used, such as another casino machine, smart phone, tablet, personal computer, and the like, along with information about each gaming machine on the casino floor.

  • Publication number: 20160027208
Abstract: A method for analysing a point cloud, the method comprising: receiving a point cloud, comprising a plurality of points, each point representing a spatial point in an image; arranging the points into a hierarchical search tree, with a lowest level comprising a plurality of leaf nodes, where each leaf node corresponds to a point of the point cloud, the search tree comprising a plurality of hierarchical levels with tree nodes in each of the hierarchical levels, the nodes being vertically connected to each other though the hierarchy by branches, wherein at least one moment of the property of the descendant nodes is stored in each tree node; and determining geometric information of the points located within a region, by identifying the highest level tree nodes where all of the descendent leaf nodes are contained within the region and selecting the leaf nodes for the points where no sub-tree is entirely contained within the region, such that such that the points falling within the region are represented by the s
