  • Patent number: 11940544
Abstract: Position enhancement for vehicle positioning is provided. Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) messages are received from a roadside unit (RSU) to an onboard unit (OBU) of a vehicle via a transceiver of the vehicle, the V2X messages indicating a location of the RSU. Image sensors of the vehicle are utilized to capture sensor data of the RSU. A current position of the vehicle is updated to a corrected current position of the vehicle based the RSU as shown in the sensor data and the location of the RSU indicated in the V2X messages.

  • Publication number: 20230351539
Abstract: Smart tolling leakage prevention is provided. A TUM is stored to a TUM database, the TUM including information with respect to traversal of a vehicle along a roadway for which charges are incurred for travel. The TUM is sent, via a transceiver of the vehicle, to a road-side unit (RSU) in communication with a tolling system. A toll receipt message (TRM) is received, via the transceiver, from the tolling system. The TUM is reconciled with the TRM. A status of the reconciling is indicated.

  • Publication number: 20230182734
Abstract: In a vehicle computer, a trigger may be received to provide localization data to a first vehicle application that is one of a plurality of vehicle applications in a vehicle that receive the localization data. Based on the trigger, resources can be allocated to a first data container that provides the localization data in a first format specified for the application, and that is one of a plurality of data containers included in the system. The localization data can be provided in the first format to the first vehicle application upon receiving a location request from the application.

  • Patent number: 11676426
Abstract: Smart tolling for vehicles is provided. A toll advertisement message (TAM) is received by a vehicle, broadcast from a road-side unit (RSU) via V2X communication, the TAM defining a plurality of toll road tariff data elements, each of the toll road tariff data elements specifying a set of tolling factors indexed by a unique toll context identifier. Roadway usage of the vehicle is determined. A charge for the roadway usage is determined according to the set of tolling factors of the TAM. A toll usage message (TUM) is sent via the V2X communication, the TUM indicating, to the RSU, the tariff for the roadway usage of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20230154239
Abstract: A first toll advertisement message (TAM) is broadcast from a roadside unit (RSU), the first TAM indicating geographic locations of lanes of a roadway for which tolls are due and payment information for traversing the lanes of the roadway. A tolling usage message (TUM) is received from a first priority vehicle in receipt of the first TAM, the TUM including a request to reallocate one or more of the lanes of the roadway for use by the first priority vehicle. Responsive to receipt of the TUM, the RSU sends a TUM acknowledgment to the first priority vehicle indicating a lane allocation for use by the first priority vehicle and broadcasts a second TAM indicating the geographic locations of lanes of the roadway for which the tolls are due, the payment information for traversing the lanes of the roadway, and the lane allocation.

  • Patent number: 11423779
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to vehicle detection systems and methods. In one exemplary embodiment, a vehicle detection system that is provided in a first vehicle receives a map generated by a vehicle detection system of a second vehicle. The map, which can be a cardinal map, for example, indicates a third vehicle that is detected by the vehicle detection system of the second vehicle and is undetectable by the first vehicle due to various reasons. For example, the first vehicle may fail to detect the third vehicle due to signal blocking caused by an intervening vehicle located between the first vehicle and the third vehicle, or due to the loss of radio-frequency (RF) signal reception by the vehicle detection system in the first vehicle. The second vehicle can detect the third vehicle by using radio-frequency (RF) signals and to convey the information to the first vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20220237583
Abstract: A toll advertisement message (TAM) broadcast from a roadside unit (RSU) is received by a vehicle via V2X communication, the TAM indicating geographic locations of lanes of a roadway for which tolls are due and cost information for traversing the lanes of the roadway. A heading of the vehicle is determined in relation to a TAM reference point indicating a geographic location of a toll gantry. A toll zone boundary region for the vehicle is identified by filtering the geographic locations of the lanes in the TAM to include only those lanes in a travel direction consistent with the heading. A lane straddling algorithm is utilized to identify, for each of the lanes in the travel direction, a respective percentage within each lane that the vehicle is traveling. A tolling usage message (TUM) is sent via the V2X communication, indicating to the RSU the percentage lane usage of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11041430
Abstract: Methods and systems are providing for improving engine coolant level estimation to reduce engine overheating. The level of fluid in a coolant overflow reservoir is inferred based on the fluid level in a hollow vertical standpipe fluidically coupled to the reservoir at top and bottom locations, while the fluid level in the standpipe is estimated based on echo times of an ultrasonic signal transmitted by a sensor positioned in a recess at the bottom of the vertical standpipe. Engine power is limited differently based on distinct coolant level states determined based on a change in level of coolant in the reservoir over a duration.

  • Patent number: 10957192
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to systems and methods for displaying visual content in an automobile. In an exemplary implementation, an onboard computer of an automobile receives wireless signals from a roadside unit located near the traffic intersection. The wireless signals provide information about how much time is remaining before a traffic light turns from a red state to a green state. The onboard computer uses this information to display visual content on an infotainment system in the automobile as long as the automobile is in a stopped condition. The onboard computer stops displaying the content before the traffic light turns green. In one case, the wireless signals transmitted from the roadside unit include a Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) signal and a traffic intersection map that provides details about a topography of the traffic intersection.
