  • Patent number: 7060662
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a high level of a silicon-containing antifoam agent in automatic transmission fluid (“ATF”) applications. More specifically, the invention relates to a formulation and method for the reduction or elimination of pump whine that occurs in high-pressure pumps used to circulate transmissions fluids in vehicles. The invention also relates to fully formulated ATFs, to transmissions lubricated with such ATFs, and to vehicles containing transmissions lubricated with such ATFs.

  • Patent number: 6482778
Abstract: Transmission fluid compositions comprising a zinc detergent and at least one phosphorus-containing additive have enhanced performance capabilities. The use of the zinc detergent and the phosphorus-containing additive provide transmission fluids that exhibit high steel-on-steel coefficients of friction, particularly useful in continuously variable transmissions (CVT).

  • Patent number: 5763372
Abstract: The present invention relates to a clean gear boron-free gear additive employing a boron-free ashless dispersant, a sulfur source and a phosphorus source. More particularly, the preferred boron-free ashless dispersant is a hydrocarbyl succinimide. This additive composition when blended with a suitable base oil meets MT-1 and MIL-PRF-2105E requirements without the need for boron. MT-1 is a requirement for a clean gear manual transmission oil. MIL-PRF-2105E is a requirement for a rear axle oil.
