  • Publication number: 20150187915
Abstract: A method for fabricating a fin type transistor uniformly implants in targeted regions. The method includes forming a fin protruding in a Z-axis direction from a substrate positioned on an XY. A first region and a second region are included in the substrate and a gate is formed crossing the second region in X-axis direction. An implantation is performed on at least a portion of the second region. The fin is rotated through a first angle, another implantation is performed on at least a portion of the second region, and the fin is rotated again through a second angle, different from the first angle.

  • Patent number: 9027035
Abstract: The techniques described herein implement an operating system that can reliably process time sensitive information in non real-time manner. Thus, the operating system described herein is capable of processing an instance of time sensitive input during a time period after the instance of time sensitive input is received (e.g., at a future point in time). To accomplish this, the techniques timestamp each instance of time sensitive input when it is received at a device. The techniques then store the timestamped instance of time sensitive input in a temporary queue, and make the timestamped instance available to the operating system at a time period after the time period when it is received, as indicated by the timestamp. Additional techniques described herein prioritize the activation of a driver configured to receive the time sensitive information during a boot sequence or a reboot sequence.

  • Publication number: 20150095900
Abstract: A system set of a utility node device, such as a kernel and/or root file system, may be updated by utilizing a multi-system set configuration. For example, the multi-system set configuration may include a first system set that is generally configured to act as an “active” set, a second system set (e.g., “idle” set) that is configured to operate when the first system set is non-operational or in an “idle” state, and a third system set that is configured to operate when the first and second system sets are non-operational. During an update of a system set, an update package may be applied to the second “idle” system set, while the first “active” system set remains operational. The utility node device may comprise a smart utility meter, sensor, control device, transformer, switch, relay, or the like.

  • Patent number: 8997120
Abstract: In a data storage system, a fixture communication channel is created for communications between a fixture and another component, where the fixture is a component of a device driver that provides extended input/output functionality with respect to one or more storage devices. A handle identifies the fixture communication channel, and callbacks are registered with a driver handler and reference callback functions of the fixture. Fixture communication messages each include the handle and a message-specific operation code for an operation to be performed by the fixture, and each is conveyed by (1) issuing a fixture-control input/output control command to the handler that includes the handle and message-specific operation code, and (2) at the handler, using the handle and message-specific operation code to select a callback and invoke a corresponding callback function of the fixture.

  • Patent number: 8924950
Abstract: Software and/or firmware of a utility node device may be updated by utilizing an update package that includes multiple update items related to different types of the software and/or firmware. The utility node device may selectively install one or more of the multiple update items based on a type of the software and/or firmware that is currently installed on the device. The different types of software and/or firmware may relate to different versions of the software and/or firmware and/or different types of hardware. In some instances, an update item of the update package comprises a delta file that contains differences between different versions of the software and/or firmware. The utility node device may comprise a smart utility meter, sensor, control device, transformer, switch, relay, or the like.

  • Publication number: 20140364806
Abstract: A cooling device includes a target fluid inlet, a target fluid outlet, an inner conduit, and a chamber surrounding the inner conduit. The inner conduit communicates with the target fluid inlet and the target fluid outlet, and provides a flow path for a target fluid to be cooled. The chamber contains a first endothermic reactant and includes a reactant inlet selectively alterable from a closed state to an open state. When the reactant inlet is in the closed state, the first endothermic reactant is isolated from a second endothermic reactant and no endothermic reaction occurs. When the reactant inlet is in the open state, the reactant inlet provides a flow path for enabling the second endothermic reactant to come into contact with the first endothermic reactant in the chamber for initiating the endothermic reaction and cooling the target fluid in the inner conduit.

  • Patent number: 8833818
Abstract: A handy compact multifunctional tool used primarily by tree stand hunters, to help make every day hunting from an elevated position more enjoyable as well as to help get you out of the inevitable pinches that hunting throws your way. Having a series of rotatable grapples used for various purposes, including: retrieval of dropped or left behind items, grappling of tree limbs to be removed from the hunter's line of sight, a place to hang weapons or accessories while not in use. A handy dry storage compartment for storage of whatever the user sees fit is conveniently located in side of unit. Magnets are located on the sides and bottom for retrieval of dropped magnetically retrievable items. The grapples are attached to a shank or main body that will later be described which is attached to a rope used for lowering tool and retrieving items etc. When not in use the main body is designed to accommodate the winding and unwinding of attached rope which doubles as a tree stand hunters hoist rope.

  • Publication number: 20140235997
Abstract: A cannula and method include a shaft portion having a proximal end, a distal end, a longitudinal axis and a lumen extending from the proximal end to the oppositely disposed distal end along the longitudinal axis. A hub is attached to the proximal end of the shaft portion and includes a transverse portion, which extends transversely relative to the longitudinal axis of the shaft portion. An opaque marker is disposed on the transverse portion at a position corresponding to an expanded size of an expandable element such that the opaque marker indicates the expanded size in an imaging system image.

  • Patent number: 8372115
Abstract: A bone support and/or barrier device and having an implantable structure including an outer surface, an inner surface, a first bone contact portion, and a second bone contact portion. The structure is collapsible to an undeployed configuration capable of percutaneous insertion to the interior of a bone and expandable to a deployed configuration in the bone. In the deployed configuration, the first bone contact portion contacts a first portion of the bone, and the second bone contact portion contacts a second portion of the bone such that a load placed on the first portion of the bone is transferred through the implantable structure to the second portion of the bone. The implantable structure includes a barrier material adapted to restrict bone filler material inserted into the bone adjacent the inner surface of the structure from flowing to the outer surface of the structure. A method is also disclosed.
