  • Patent number: 7049554
Abstract: An adjustable heater for aquaria, comprising a substantially tubular container (2) within which are housed an electrical heating element (3), a switch (6) comprising s fixed contacts (7, 8) and moving contacts (9, 10) and capable of electrically connecting the heating element (3) with an external source (R) of electrical power, a temperature sensor (12) with a bi-metal strip (13) capable of detecting the temperature of the liquid and interacting with the switch (6) to move it from a closed position to an open position when a predetermined temperature (T) is to reached. The moving contacts (9, 10) of the switch (6) are secured to a free end (13?) of the bi-metal strip (13) while the other end (13?) of the bi-metal strip (13) is electrically insulated. This yields the advantage that electrical current does not pass through the bi-metal strip (13) and therefore does not create a Joule effect within it which affects the sensitivity and proper behavior of the temperature Is sensor (12).

  • Patent number: 6882071
Abstract: A multiple-function pumping device includes a pump for supplying at least one jet, an electric motor with a stator and a rotor for driving the pump, and circuitry for electrically connecting the motor to a main voltage power supply line. The stator is provided with an excitation winding. The stator has electrical circuit components for powering an external lighting device with low voltage. Preferably, the low-voltage powering circuit components include an electric transformer having as a primary circuit the excitation winding of the motor and further include a secondary circuit which is also wound around the stator.

Abstract: Multiple-function pumping device (1), in particular for fountains, ornamental fountains and the like, comprising a pump (P) for supplying at least one jet, an electric motor (2) with a stator (3) and a rotor (4) for driving the pump (P), means (6) for electrically connecting the motor (2) to a mains voltage power supply line. The stator (3) is provided with an excitation winding (5). The device (1) according to the invention is characterized in that the stator (3) comprises means (7) for powering external lighting means (8) with low voltage. Preferably, the low-voltage powering means (7) consist of an electric transformer (9) having as a primary circuit the excitation winding (5) of the motor (2) and comprising a secondary circuit (10) which is also wound around the stator (2).

  • Patent number: 5474674
Abstract: The invention relates to an external filtration device, particularly for aquariums and ornamental water tanks, which includes a container formed by a lower hollow part (2) that is closed at the top by a detachable lid (3) and internally accommodates a filtration chamber (6) and a pump (11) which are connected to the outside by an inlet connector (8) and an outlet connector (15). A priming suction chamber (18) is located upstream of the pressure chamber (12) of the pump (11) and downstream of the filtration chamber (6). The suction chamber (18) has a removable upper plug (25) and is connected to the pressure chamber (12) of the pump (11) by an horizontal passage (20) and to the filtration chamber (6) by a vertical duct (22). A discharge chamber (26) is located directly downstream of the pressure chamber (12) and is directly connected to the outlet connector (15). Safety hooks (27) engage the lid with the lower hollow part (2).
