  • Patent number: 11496979
Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from improved signaling. For example, it may be helpful to improve the management of the uplink timing alignment where multiple numerologies are used. A method may include receiving at a user equipment an indication from a network node. The timing adjustment granularity may be determined implicitly based on one or more multiple numerology assigned to a timing advance group. The method may also include applying at the user equipment the indicated timing adjustment granularity associated with one of the multiple numerologies.

  • Publication number: 20220330372
Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to UP transmission for a device in an inactive state. The first device in an inactive state performs a small data transmission procedure between the first device and a second device and transmits an indication to the second device. The indication indicates the following a presence of non-small data transmission data to be transmitted by the first device and information associated with the data. Through this solution, the second device may make a proper and reasonable determination about whether to resume a radio resource control connection with the terminal device and whether to stop the ongoing small data transmission procedure.

  • Publication number: 20220322444
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for determining random access channel (RACH) resources or parameters based on network slice-based resource allocation classes (RACs) may be provided. A mapping between network slices and a set of RACs may be determined by a core network (CN). The CN may send this mapping to the UE. The UE may select RACH resources or parameters for a network slice. The radio access network (RAN) may determine a mapping between the RACs and the RACH resources or parameters. The UE may determine the corresponding RACH resources or parameters to be used for a RAC.

  • Publication number: 20220322456
Abstract: An example embodiment relates to Random Access Channel, RACH, procedure, for example in the New Radio, NR. Random access procedures may be of two types, contention based CBRA and contention free, CFRA. A client device may only perform CBRA fallback when none of the reference signal received strengths, RSRPs, of the synchronization signal blocks, SSBs, which is associated with the CFRA resources is above a predefined threshold, T1. All SSBs and CSI-RS with associated CFRA resources may be below the threshold. Then, the client device may select an SSB or CSI-RS according to a predefined rule and perform CFRA when CFRA resources are associated. Devices, methods and computer programs are disclosed accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20220312530
Abstract: During an RRC Connection setup or resume procedure, a user equipment may explicitly identify itself to the network using Msg3. Rather than using the spare bit or including additional bits in Msg3, one or more values of the LCID field of the MAC sub-header of the MAC PDU may be used to identify a reduced capability user equipment. The one or more LCID field values that can identify a reduced capability user equipment may also be configured to identify a common control channel service data unit size. A plurality of LCID field values may be defined to identify varies types of RedCap UEs.

  • Patent number: 11382138
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to random access in a communication system. A first device receives a criterion to select a random access type for performing random access to a second device. The first device further determines whether the first device is allocated a contention-free random access resource for a certain random access type, and then performs the random access to the second device based on the determination and conditionally based on the criterion. As such, in the case where contention-free random access resource has been allocated for a certain random access type, the device can conditionally apply the criterion for selection of the random access type and can thus perform random access with improved efficiency.

  • Patent number: 11259306
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products where a user equipment in a wireless communications network determines a measure of signal quality for a restricted set of beam recovery candidates, compares the measure of signal quality of contention free random access candidates reference signal in the restricted set or a subset of contention free random access candidates to a signal quality based recovery threshold, and selects the at least one candidate signal with signal quality above that threshold from a candidate beam reference signal list; where the user equipment measures a reference signal received power for contention free random access candidate beam, selects candidates above a reference signal received power threshold, determines signal quality for the selected contention free random access candidates above that threshold, and selects one candidate in response to multiple contention free random access candidates being above that threshold or the one with highest measure of signal quality.
