  • Patent number: 11575220
Abstract: A bonded joint for use in bonding composite materials is provided and includes a composite rib having electrically conductive properties and a composite structure having electrically conductive properties. An electrically conductive preform is provided that facilitates a bond between the composite rib and the composite structure. A mesh composition that bonds the composite rib to the preform and that bonds the preform to the composite structure is provided and is electrically conductive to conduct current between the composite rib and the composite structure.

  • Patent number: 7014883
Abstract: A method for forming a composite structure is disclosed. The method includes four steps. Step one calls for applying a primer (104) to a surface (102) of a tool (100). Step two requires applying a coating (106) to primer (104). Step three calls for curing primer (104) and coating (106). The last step calls for forming the composite structure on tool (100). More specifically, primer (104) may be a powdered primer, and coating (106) may be a powdered fluorinated organic compound.

  • Patent number: 6461432
Abstract: A uniform coating of radar-absorbing material (RAM) is produced on small or intricate parts by suspending the part in a vessel, slowing filling the vessel with RAM slurry without turbulence from the bottom up, subsequently draining the slurry slowly without turbulence to leave a coating of RAM on the part, and repeating the process until a coating of sufficient thickness is obtained.

Date of Patent: October 8, 2002
    Assignee: Northrop Grumman Corporation
Inventors: Sandra J. Stash, Mark E. Cooper
