Abstract: A system and process to teach building words to individuals with hearing, auditory processing or speech disabilities utilizing unique visual shapes having a unique color to represent each of the phonemes of the English Language and a corresponding set of index cards or objects for each unique visual shape, where each set of index cards or objects have a letter or combination of letters thereon that have the sound of the corresponding unique shape representing the phoneme. Each set of index cards or objects having the letter or combination of letters in the same color as the corresponding unique shape.

Abstract: Systems and processes to teach speech utilizing visual phonemes as physical representations or surrogates of spoken sounds, wherein the visual phonemes also include the letters and letter combinations that are used in a way that sounds the phoneme when spoken and words corresponding to the letter of letter combinations that use the letter or letter combinations therein in a way that sounds the phoneme when spoken.

Abstract: System and process for teaching speech utilizing visual phonemes as physical, representations or surrogates of spoken sounds. Such demonstration teaching tools or implements may be tangible or viewed on a computer, and are provided. These are distinguished by recognizable shapes and colors. They are modeled upon a number of sources including: characters of the International Phonetic Alphabet; shapes of a speaker's mouth configurations; certain English alphabet letters associated with spoken sounds. Visual phonemes representing spoken vowel sounds have warm colors; those representing consonants, cool colors. Combinations of vowel sounds, diphthongs, are represented by visual phonemes displaying blends of warm colors representing each spoken vowel sound in the diphthong combination. The implements may be rigid or flexible, or displayed in electronic form. They may be fabricated to facilitate mounting on a display surface.
