  • Patent number: 8275121
Abstract: A portable communication device includes a base, an intermediate portion and a top portion that are operatively coupled by a combination hinge assembly. The combination hinge assembly is configured to facilitate sliding motion between the base and the intermediate portion and rotation between the base and the top portion. The base, intermediate portion and top portion may be configured to include respective displays and/or touch input devices to provide a portable communication device with increased display area and/or control area with a smaller footprint often associated with conventional clamshell or slider portable communication devices.

  • Patent number: 5568730
Abstract: A deodorizing device for a refrigerator is disclosed. The deodorizing device includes a deodorizing unit which is detachably mounted to a cooling air return port of a cooling chamber and sucks the cooling air laden with odor and bacteria thereinto by the blowing force of a cooling air fan. The deodorizing unit includes a cooling air grille provided with a plurality of cooling air through holes, a deodorant container provided on each side of the top surface of the grille a guide cover detachably coupled to the grille for guiding the cooling air to the cooling: air return passage, and a fixing plate for fixing the guide cover to an inner case of the freezing chamber so as to mount the deodorizing unit to the second cooling air return port. The fixing plate is placed on the top of the guide cover.

  • Patent number: 5116772
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a field effect transistor which overcomes problems occurring in the manufacture of InP material junction field effect transistors. Because the electron saturation velocity is higher than that of silicon or GaAs it is desirable to have a gate length shorter than the mask length as well as to have the source, drain, and gate metals evaporated by the self-aligned method. The present invention provides a method of achieving gate lengths of 1 .mu.m or shorter without requiring an expensive electron beam apparatus or X-ray lighography apparatus.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 11, 1991
Date of Patent: May 26, 1992
Assignee: Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute
Inventors: Ki S. Park, Sang B. Kim, Kwang Y. Oh, Yong T. Lee

  • Patent number: 4994143
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a buried heterostructure laser diode comprising an active layer and a clad layer which are formed as a reverse mesa on a substrate, current blocking layers and an insulation layer deposited on the top of the blocking layers, and an electrode formed on the top thereof comprising: a first step for forming a SiO.sub.2 stripe mask on the clad layer after a first liquid phase epitaxial growth of the active layer and the clad layer on the substrate, a second step for etching the clad layer under the SiO.sub.2 stripe mask using an etchant to form a reverse mesa structure, a third step for selectively etching the clad layer using an etchant such as a family of hydrochloric acid and then for making the active layer protrude, and a fourth step for naturally melthig back the protruded porting of the active layer surface during the second epitaxial growth process is provided.
