  • Publication number: 20030235186
Abstract: An Internet cordless phone enabling a plurality of users to wirelessly make Internet calls at the same time over one Internet line is provided. The provided Internet cordless phone includes an Internet phone station for processing an Internet phone protocol and cordless handsets for processing audio codec and user interface, wherein the Internet phone station and the cordless handsets are connected by Bluetooth asynchronous connection-less (ACL) links. By using the provided Internet cordless phone, a maximum of seven people can make Internet calls over one Internet line so that the cost of making calls is reduced and mobility limitations are overcome.

  • Patent number: 6584229
Abstract: A method, for an use at an macroblock-based object oriented coding of image sequence having a stationary background comprising the steps of: dividing a background region and an object region from an inputted video; determining an coding techniques, for an individual macroblock belonging to each divided region, as a macro block-based object-oriented coding of image sequence having a stationary back ground or a discrete cosine transformation object-oriented coding of image sequence having a moving object region; coding the method information, by which each macroblock is coded, on condition that the total area of each region is identical to the area of the screen; and storing or transmitting the coded data.

  • Patent number: 6509993
Abstract: An optical transmission system and method uses large-bandwidth optical signals that rapidly disperse in a transmission medium, such as an optical fiber, to reduce the effects of non-linearities in the transmission medium on the optical signal. The frequency bandwidth of the optical signals can be widened by chirping the optical signals, although other methods are possible. Optical signals in adjacent channels, such as in wavelength division multiplexing, can overlap to some extent without significant effect on the transmitted signal quality. Optical filtering at the receiver can extract partially overlapping signals as well as compensate for residual dispersion and/or dispersion slope in the transmission system.

  • Patent number: 6463174
Abstract: There is disclosed a macroblock-based segmentation and background mosaicking method for object-based coding of image sequence having a stationary background. An image comprising a background having rare change and an object having slow change taken from a position and focus fixed camera is segmented into changing regions and stationary regions in units of macroblock of 16×16 pixels that is most widely used as a basic coding unit in a video coding method or apparatus. A background mosaic is constructed with only macroblocks corresponding to the regions having rare temporal change. The background mosaic is newly constructed with respect to an entire image whenever there are any changes in the image sequence, thereby maximizing coding efficiency. Therefore, the present inventions realizes a very low complexity, thus facilitating real time operation and maximizing efficiency in is object shape coding.
