  • Publication number: 20020187896
Abstract: The present invention provides a carbon molecular sieve prepared by forming carbon nanorods or carbon nanotubes with a uniform diameter inside pores of siliceous mesoporous molecular sieve and a process for preparing the same. The process for preparing a carbon molecular sieve of the present invention comprises the steps of; adsorbing a mixture of an aqueous carbohydrate solution and an acid or a precursor of carbon polymer into pores of mesoporous silica molecular sieve template, and polymerizing; heating the mesoporous molecular sieve including polymeric material at 400 to 1400° C. under vacuum condition or without oxygen to accomplish thermal decomposition of the polymeric material included in the pores; and, reacting the heated mesoporous molecular sieve with hydrofluoric acid or aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and removing the template to obtain a carbon molecular sieve.

  • Patent number: 6277324
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for manufacturing molten pig iron by using a fine iron ore are disclosed. Coal is used to produce a reducing gas, and a fine iron ore is used to produce a molten iron and a reduced iron in a simple and efficient manner. The apparatus for manufacturing a molten iron by directly using coal as the fuel is as follows. A high temperature reducing gas is sent from a melter-gasifier to a fluidized bed lime stone calcining furnace to calcine the lime stone. The reducing gas is supplied to a second fluidized bed reducing furnace so as to manufacture a reduced iron directly. An off-gas from the second fluidized bed reducing furnace is supplied to a first fluidized bed reducing furnace (disposed above the second fluidized bed reducing furnace) to pre-heat and pre-reduce the fine iron ore. The calcined lime stone and the finally reduced iron are supplied to a melter-gasifier to manufacture a molten pig iron.

  • Patent number: 6235080
Abstract: A device is disclosed for directly charging raw material into a melter-gasifier in a molten iron manufacturing facility using coal and fine iron ore. The elutriation of fine dusts is inhibited while directly charging coal and reduced fines into the melter-gasifier. The direct charging device is applied to a fluidized bed type final reducing furnace and has a plurality of discharging outlets for discharging the fines. The melter-gasifier receives lump coal to form a coal packed bed within it and receives the reduced fine iron ore from the final reducing furnace. The direct charging device includes a plurality of charging inlets formed on the side wall of the melter-gasifier connected by conduits to the discharging outlets of the final reducing furnace whereby reduced fine iron ore is continuously charged from the final reducing furnace to the coal packed bed of the melter-gasifier.

  • Patent number: 6086653
Abstract: A smelting reduction apparatus and a method for producing molten pig iron using the smelting reduction apparatus are disclosed. The molten pig iron is produced by using iron ore, sintered ore or iron pellets, so that the reduced iron discharge operation from a pre-reducing furnace to a melter-gasifier would not give any influence to the operation of the pre-reducing furnace. An iron ore is pre-reduced at a pre-reducing furnace by utilizing a reducing off-gas which is produced from a melter-gasifier. The pre-reduced iron ore is melted and reduced at the melter-gasifier. The reducing gas which is discharged from the melter-gasifier is supplied through an ascending duct and a cyclone into the pre-reducing furnace. The fine iron ore which is collected at the cyclone is spouted through a recycling device and a melter-burner into the melter-gasifier.

  • Patent number: 5989309
Abstract: A method for injecting fine iron ore in a smelting reducing process is disclosed, in which the carrier gas for the iron ore is the discharge gas from a melter gasifier without the need of separate carrier gas. It includes the steps of pre-reducing iron ore in a pre-reduction furnace, melting and reducing it in the melter gasifier, supplying the discharge gas from the melter gasifier through an ascending tube to a cyclone and to said pre-reduction furnace, directing the cooled and cleaned fine iron ore through a recycling system and a melting burner into the melter gasifier. A part of the discharge gas is supplied through a venturi scrubber, a first compressor and a circulating tube into an ascending tube. A part of the compressed gas circulating through the tube is recompressed by means of a second compressor and fine iron ore from a stored source is injected into ascending the tube by the recompressed gas by means of a pneumatic fine iron ore conveying system.
