    Abstract: The present invention provides a 2 stage rotary compressor including a hermetic container (101) defining an outward appearance of the compressor (100), a 2 stage compression assembly provided in the hermetic Container, wherein a low pressure cylinder (121), a middle plate (140) and a high pressure cylinder (131) successively stacked from any one of upper and lower portions, and first discharge port (161p) discharging refrigerant compressed in the low pressure cylinder (121), and having an inner volume equivalent to 0.5% to 2.5% of an inner volume of the low pressure cylinder (121). A valve is installed on or under the discharge port. When the valve is opened, compressed refrigerant is discharged through the discharge port. When the valve is closed, refrigerant remains in the discharge port as much as the volume of the discharge port. Accordingly, refrigerant remaining in the discharge port is re-expanded in the cylinder to thereby cause a compression loss.

    Abstract: Provided is a variable capacity rotary compressor, which has a passage for restricting a vane using a pressure applied towards a perpendicular direction to a direction of a motion of the vane. A ratio between a sectional area of the passage and a vane area of the vane facing the passage and receiving a restriction pressure applied thereto ranges from 1.5% to 16.4%, and accordingly the vane can smoothly perform a reciprocation upon a normal driving mode of the compressor and also the vane can be quickly restricted upon a saving driving mode of the compressor. Hence, the fast and stable restriction of the vane can prevent a vibration of the vane, so as to reduce noise generated from the compressor.

The compressor includes a casing that maintains a discharge pressure state, a motor installed in the casing that generates a driving force, one or more cylinder assemblies provided in the casing to compress refrigerant with a rolling piston and a vane. The rolling piston is eccentrically coupled to a rotation shaft of the motor to perform a linear motion, and a vane restricting device restricts or releases the vane from the rolling piston according to a difference in pressures applied to the vane. A structure of the compressor may be simplified, resulting in reduced production costs and enhanced productivity. Further, as the vane is restricted by a pressure differential, reliability may be enhanced.

    Abstract: A variable capacity rotary compressor is provided, in which a vane may be restricted by a pressure difference generated between both side surfaces of the vane when the compressor performs in a saving driving mode. The vane may be restricted quickly and stably by rapidly decreasing a pressure of a vane chamber by leaking a discharge pressure of the vane chamber to an inlet via a low pressure passage and thereby increasing a pressurizing force applied to a side surface of the vane relatively greater than a supporting force applied to a rear surface thereof. In this way, the vane may be prevented from being vibrated due to a weak restriction force of the vane when a power driving mode of the compressor is switched into the saving driving mode, which prevents noise from increasing due to design conditions, thereby enhancing a comfort feeling of a user.

A pressure controlling unit supplies a discharge pressure or a suction pressure to the vane pressure chamber to thereby restrict or release a motion of the vane. A pressure leakage preventing unit couples the cylinder and bearings positioned at opposite sides of the cylinder to form the vane pressure chamber. A capacity to compress and discharge a refrigerant may be varied according to a load, thereby reducing power consumption of the compressor and simplifying assembly. Furthermore, pressure leakage from the vane pressure chamber may be prevented, thereby enhancing a capacity varying function.
