Abstract: A tamper evident security document including: a transparent substrate; an ink receptive coating applied to at least one side of the substrate, said coating including a laser markable additive dispersed therein; at least one laser formed marking or image created in the coating by exposure of the laser markable additive to laser radiation; and printed data applied to the ink receptive coating; wherein the marking or image in the coating is removed or destroyed upon an attempt to alter the printed data.

Abstract: A security article is provided having a multicoloured image and which comprises a first layer of transparent polymeric material carrying parts of an image formed in a first colour; and at least one other layer of transparent polymeric material carrying parts of the image formed in a different colour. The layers are laminated together with the parts of the image formed in the first and different colours superposed over one another, whereby the colours combine to form a multicoloured image in the laminated security article. In one embodiment, the multi coloured image is viewable from both sides of the security article, and in another form an opaque layer may be provided on one side of the transparent layers to provide a background for viewing the image in reflection from one side of the article.

Abstract: A security device (3) and a method of forming a security device (3) is provided in which a sheet (1) has a substantially transparent or translucent layer (10) and a reflective layer (11) with at least part of the reflective layer (11) being visible through the transparent or translucent layer (10) from a first side of the sheet (1). The sheet (1) is blind embossed from the first side through the transparent or translucent layer (10) and onto the reflective layer (11) to form a transitory embossed image (3). The transitory embossed image (3) may be provided in a window or half-window (2) formed by applying one or more opacifying layers (14) to the substrate (10) except in the area containing the reflective layer (11) and transitory embossed image (3) on one or both sides of the substrate (10). In one embodiment, the reflective layer is a highly reflective metallic ink (11).
