  • Patent number: 9794143
Abstract: Systems and methods can operate to deliver video information over IP networks on a best-effort basis. Best-effort implies that information is delivered without any guaranteed quality of service. During the encoding of video transport streams into video frames, a decoding time stamp (DTS) can be generated that can be used by a video decoder to determine when to begin decoding the video frame data. Information from one or more video frames can be encapsulated in an IP packet. Using the DTS, video encoding rate and video frame size, a time constraint value can be calculated and can provide an indication of the relative transmission priority for the best-effort IP delivery of IP packets containing encapsulated video information.

  • Patent number: 9462270
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods can operate to generate frame aligned digital video streams encoded at different bitrates from a common digital video stream. To provide uninterrupted playback of video content when a device switches from one stream encoded at one bit rate to the same digital video stream encoded at another bitrate, the video frames of the digital video streams can be aligned. To provide for proper frame alignment between fragments representing the same frame of a digital video stream encoded at different bitrates, video encoding device(s) can mark decoded digital pictures for subsequent encoding at different bit rates when the division of a program reference clock value by the fragment period approaches an integer value.

  • Patent number: 9386267
Abstract: This disclosure describes cooperatively transcoding an input signal to one or more output signals. The software and/or hardware logic modules are designed to work cooperatively in ways that can reduce the number and/or complexity of logic modules implementing a plurality of related transcodings of signal formats. By advantageously determining dependencies and sub-functions in transcoding an input stream to multiple output streams, hardware and/or software logic can be reduced. Reduced logic to implement multi-format transcoding improves the costs and/or capacity of systems for transcoding large numbers of streams and signals.

  • Publication number: 20160037176
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for a transcoding device to provide sets of video streams or profiles having different encoding parameters for transmitting the sets of video streams to a media device. In an embodiment, a method for transmitting video streams for a media program from a transcoding device to a media device includes receiving, by the transcoding device, video data; generating, by the transcoding device, a plurality of profiles from the video data, each profile representing a video stream; performing analysis on the generated plurality of profiles to identify similar profiles; reducing the number of profiles to provide a distinct set of profiles; and transmitting the distinct set of profiles from the transcoding device to the media device.

  • Patent number: 8731216
Abstract: Systems and methods of this disclosure can operate to provide audio level normalization in multimedia streams. In some implementations, audio level normalization can include partially decoding audio frames included in a multimedia stream, calculating an average energy level of the partially decoded frames, comparing the average energy level of the partially decoded frames to a nominal energy level, modifying a dialnorm setting associated with the multimedia stream, and reencoding the partially decoded audio frames for inclusion as a modified audio stream corresponding to the video stream.

  • Publication number: 20110096846
Abstract: Methods for performing ad insertion prior to performing statistical multiplexing on one or more digital video streams including programs are disclosed. Select coded frames of a program and an advertisement are decoded and re-encoded at a predetermine bit rate to obtain a revised program representing the original program with the advertisement inserted at a select time.
