Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for effectively displaying database records on a device having a display area that is small compared to the underlying data being represented. A simulated catalogue is displayed with cards associated with database records. Detailed information is presented for a record on a card obscuring information related to other records. A user is allowed to swipe on the catalogue causing simulated movement of the cards thereby displaying information associated with a database record previously obscured. The catalogue is moved with an initial velocity determined by the speed of swiping and decelerated based on a drag factor until it comes to a stop and displays information for the record reached. The ability to determine the final record displayed when the catalogue stops allows pre-fetching of the data associated with the record.

Because the user interfaces are more efficient in usage of display area, smaller displays can be used more effectively in reviewing such data. The user interfaces provide a multi-dimensional navigation approach among dimensions represented in the data, which allows users to more easily maintain context when reviewing large pivot table reports, and the like. Other user interface features that ease review of such reports on smaller devices also are disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments display table data in formats that are suitable for presentation in a limited display area. The columns can be presented in numeric/text format as well as chart format. User input allows conversion of a column displayed using numeric format to a chart format and back, for example, by double tapping on a touch sensitive screen. A key column is displayed with the chart column. Depending on the screen size, other columns may be displayed along with the chart column. Embodiments determine whether text data is displayed using a single line or multiple lines, based on percentage of labels of the column that fit within the width of the column. Various criteria determine width of columns displayed using collapsed width or expanded width. User input allows conversion of column display from collapsed width to expanded width or back, for example, by double tapping on the screen.

Interactive graphic files representative of input and output values for panels within the panel layout are selected. The interactive graphic files are associated with panels in the panel layout. A composite interactive graphic file representative of input and output values for the interactive graphic files representative of input and output values that have been associated with the panel layout is generated.

Each enhanced data presentation entity has associated data values from a specified data source. Instructions to purchase a selected enhanced data presentation entity are received. The selected enhanced data presentation entity specifies a number of versions of data. An identification is assigned to the selected enhanced data presentation entity. The selected enhanced data presentation entity and associated data values are presented to a user.
