Abstract: A truck for separately storing and discharging recyclable materials includes a chassis, a cab, and a frame pivotably mounted on the chassis rearwardly of the cab and supporting a housing with a platform extending along one side to the cab. Partition walls in the housing divide the interior space into a multiplicity of compartments along the length of the housing and a side wall has openings providing access to the several compartments. The partition walls have gates which are held in closed position by locks which are remotely releasable. An upper compartment is provided on the housing and a chute extends upwardly from an opening in the side wall, and a deflectable closure for the opening permits insertion of recyclable materials thereinto. A diagonally extending door is provided on the rear end of the cab adjacent the platform and is slidable between a closed position closing the cab and an open position extending along the adjacent side wall to permit passage between the cab and the platform.

Abstract: A refuse container assembly for segregating refuse into two separately collectable volumes includes a refuse container with a divider wall extending from front to rear wall to divide the interior into two compartments. Separate lids for the compartments are hingedly connected to the rear wall and have a locking pin extending outwardly of the adjacent side wall. Locking members are disposed on the outer surface of each of the side walls and are movable between a position engaging the locking pin and a releasing position. An actuator on the forward end of a refuse collection truck bears upon and moves one locking member from one of the positions to the other of the positions, thereby allowing one of the lids to be opened to effect discharge of the contents of its compartment.

Abstract: A truck for separately storing and discharging recyclable materials has a container housing with at least one door in its rear wall. Partitioning members divide the interior space of the container housing into at least two pairs of transversely disposed compartments, one pair being disposed rearwardly of the other pair, and the rearward pair being spaced from said rear wall of the housing to define a fifth compartment. The partitioning members have gates therein, and a multiplicity of openings are provided in one side wall of the container housing for feeding different types of materials into the several compartments in which they may be separately stored and from which they may be separately discharged.
