  • Publication number: 20100038817
Abstract: A method and device for the production of thermoplastics containing coarse-scale and/or nanoscale, coated, de-agglomerated magnesium hydroxide particles that are supplied to the thermoplastic in the form of a dispersion or suspension in an aqueous or organic solvent, and mixed with the themoplastic. The thermoplastics filled with magnesium hydroxide particles demonstrate improved mechanical properties, particularly an improved modulus of elasticity and low brittleness.

  • Patent number: 7553462
Abstract: A method for the production of Mg(OH)2 nanoparticles, by means of polyol-mediated synthesis, from an Mg precursor as well as a base. The particles produced with this method have a diameter between 10 nm to 300 nm, have a mono-disperse particle distribution, and are present in non-agglomerated form. They can be converted to MgO particles by means of calcination.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 18, 2007
Date of Patent: June 30, 2009
    Assignee: K&S Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Claus Feldmann, Sascha Ahlert, Jörg-Heino Sachse, Ingo Stahl
