  • Patent number: 10167600
Abstract: A particle removing arrangement is adapted to remove particles from the upper contact surface of an electric rail in an electric highway by the use of an airflow, where the particle removing arrangement is arranged in front of a current collector of a vehicle, where the particle removing arrangement includes an inlet opening for inlet of air and an outlet opening for outlet of air, where the inlet opening is directed in a forward direction and the outlet opening is directed in a sideway to rearward direction in relation to the driving direction of the vehicle, and where the particle removing arrangement creates a particle removing airflow from a forward movement of the vehicle. Particles can be removed from an electric rail without the use of an external power source. The particles can also be removed in a contact-less manner, such that there is no friction or abrasion between the particle removing arrangement and the electric rail.

  • Patent number: 6481392
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder block with at least one cylinder and at least one intake and exhaust valve per cylinder. A cooling system includes an inlet opening that is formed in the cylinder block and leads to a first coolant space in the cylinder block. At least one restriction element is arranged in the first coolant space. A second coolant space is arranged in a cylinder head and inlet ports are arranged in the cylinder head which connect the first and second coolant spaces to one another. The inlet ports are principally situated on an exhaust side of the cylinder head. Outlet ports are arranged in the cylinder head and connect the first and second coolant space to one another. The outlet ports are principally situated on an intake side of the cylinder head. An outlet opening formed in the cylinder block has a connection to the first coolant space.

  • Patent number: 6289854
Abstract: A circulation pump for pumping a fluid, for example for heat interchange, by way of a rotating impeller is included in a circulation system that includes a first feeder liner from a heat source to a cooling device, a return line from the cooling device to the pump and a valve for shunting the outflow from the heat source via a bypass line back to the pump. The bypass line is connected to the pump in such a way that a flow essentially from this line produces and/or increases a pre-rotation of the inflow to the impeller, which pre-rotation results in a reduction of the power required by the engine.

  • Patent number: 6202603
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder block (1) with at least two cylinders (8) and at least two exhaust valves (12) per cylinder (8), a slit (28) in the cylinder block (1) between each pair of cylinders (8), and a cooling system which comprises an inlet opening (36) for cooling liquid (20), formed in the cylinder block (1), an outlet opening (42) for cooling liquid (20), formed in a cylinder head (2), a restriction member (34) which is arranged in the cylinder block (1) and guides most of the cooling water flow to an intake side (38) of the cylinder block (1), and cooling liquid channels (18a-18e) in the cylinder head (2) which are chiefly located on an exhaust side (40) of the cylinder head (2). The cooling liquid channels (18a-18e) open into the cylinder head (2) in an area between the exhaust valve seats (16) for each cylinder (8) and thereby regulate at the same time the flow and cooling around the cylinder liners (32) and between the exhaust valve seats (16).

  • Patent number: 6138619
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for control of flow of a cooling medium which is led through a channel (5) in an internal combustion engine (1), comprising at least one flow directing element (14, 17, 23) arranged in the channel (5) for directing passing cooling medium in a predetermined direction. The invention is characterized in that said flow directing elements (14, 17, 23) are supported by a supporting element (13, 11, 16, 20) intended to be mounted on said internal combustion engine (1), with said flow directing elements (14, 17, 23) so arranged that they protrude from the supporting element (13, 11, 16, 20) and into said channel (5). The invention provides an improved device for controlling the direction of flow of a cooling medium in an internal combustion engine, thus creating a more optimal cooling of the internal combustion engine.
