  • Patent number: 8169477
Abstract: Visual inspection of an interior surface of a borehole. A housing adapted to be lowered in the borehole supports a portable camera for generating images of a portion of the interior surface of the borehole and a light source for illuminating an area adjacent the camera. A monitor receives signals from the camera and, in response thereto, displays the images generated by the camera. A viewing envelope positioned adjacent the camera defines a viewing area adjacent the camera, particularly for use in visually inspecting slurry-filled boreholes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 7, 2007
Date of Patent: May 1, 2012
Assignee: Florida State University Research Foundation, Inc.
Inventors: Kamal Tawfiq, Edward J. Mallory, Sastry Putcha, Dan Turner

  • Patent number: 6533502
Abstract: A system for the determination of pile parameters includes at least one structure for measuring pile data. The structure for measuring pile data is disposed within a measurement range from a pile. A wireless transmitter is communicably connected to the structure for measuring pile data, the wireless transmitter for transmitting the pile data to at least one remotely located receiver. Pile data is preferably encoded in the transmitted data signal. The remotely located receiver is communicably connected to a device for determining at least one pile parameter from the pile measurement data. A method for driving piles includes the steps of wirelessly transmitting pile data to at least one remote receiver, determining at least one pile driving process parameter from the pile data, and driving the pile using the determined pile driving parameter.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 18, 2003
    Assignee: University of Florida
Inventors: Michael C. McVay, Victor H. Alvarez, Charles S. Broward, III, Sidney L. Schofield, Sastry Putcha
