  • Patent number: 7917265
Abstract: A control system for a mobile excavation machine is disclosed. The control system may have a ground engaging work tool, a sensor, and a controller. The sensor may be configured to sense a parameter indicative of a current travel speed of the mobile excavation machine and generate a speed signal in response thereto. The controller may be in communication with the ground engaging work tool and the sensor, and configured to receive the signal. The controller may also be configured to determine an amount of material currently being moved by the work tool and calculate a current productivity value associated with removal of the material based on the speed signal and the determined amount of material currently being moved. The controller may be further configured to control the ground engaging work tool to vary the amount of material currently being moved in response to the current productivity value.

  • Patent number: 7058495
Abstract: A system and method for controlling a work implement of a work machine are provided. A preset position for the work implement is established. An implement positioning system is enabled. An indication of a change in a travel direction of the work machine is received. The work implement is moved to the preset position in response to the indication of the change in the travel direction when the implement positioning system is enabled.

  • Patent number: 5806640
Abstract: A power take off (PTO) clutch control system for an agricultural tractor is disclosed herein. The PTO clutch is a hydraulic clutch which is operated by a proportional valve capable of pressurizing the clutch with hydraulic fluid at a pressure related to the pulse width of a pulse width modulated (PWM) control signal applied to the valve. The PWM signal is produced by a controller which monitors the input shaft speed and the output shaft speed. A first control signal is applied to the valve when both the input and output shaft speeds are greater than zero. A second control signal is applied to the valve when the input shaft speed has decreased by a predetermined amount and the output shaft speed is substantially zero.

The PTO clutch is a hydraulic clutch which is operated by a proportional valve capable of pressurizing the clutch with hydraulic fluid at a pressure related to the pulse width of a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal applied to the valve. The PWM signal is produced by a controller which monitors the output shaft speed and movement to determine the time at which the shaft begins movement. Prior to shaft movement, the PWM signals control the proportional valve to prevent clutch engagement when the hydraulic fluid in the system is cold, clutch engagement has not occurred in a timely fashion and the operator has left the seat of the tractor.

The PTO clutch is a hydraulic clutch which is operated by a proportional valve capable of pressurizing the clutch with hydraulic fluid at a pressure related to the pulse width of a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal applied to the valve. The PWM signal is produced by a controller which monitors the input and output shaft speeds to determine the pulse width of the PWM signal. The clutch control also includes a brake which inhibits rotation of the clutch output shaft when the clutch is disengaged. The brake is operated by an on/off valve which is also controlled by the controller.

Prior to shaft movement, the PWM signals control the proportional valve to engage the clutch slowly and smoothly to avoid producing unacceptably high torques in the PTO shaft connected to the clutch during clutch engagement.
