  • Patent number: 10005027
Abstract: A system for carbon dioxide capture from a gas mixture comprises an absorber that receives a lean solvent system stream (containing a chemical solvent, physical-solvent additive, and water) from the stripper, a stripper that receives the rich solvent stream from the absorber and produces the product carbon dioxide and the lean solvent through the use of a reboiler in fluid communication with a lower portion of the stripper, a condenser in fluid communication with a vapor outlet of the stripper, a cross-exchanger in fluid communication with a rich solvent system outlet from the absorber and a rich solvent system inlet on the stripper, and a splitter. The splitter is configured to separate the rich solvent system stream into a first portion and a second portion, where the first portion directly passes to the stripper and the second portion passes through the cross-exchanger prior to passing to the stripper.

  • Patent number: 9975083
Abstract: Systems and methods for gas processing are described that utilize two or more cells that are fluidly coupled to one another by a common liquid space. Via the common liquid space, each of the cells can be coupled to a fluid outlet. The cells can each include an absorber and/or other gas processing equipment. A feed gas can be separately fed to each of the cells for processing. The cells can be independently operable, such that not all of the cells must be operated simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20160327337
Abstract: Systems and methods of CO2 desublimation are presented in which refrigeration content is retained within the system. Most preferably, refrigeration content is recycled by providing the refrigeration content of a CO2-lean feed gas to the CO2-containing feed gas and to pre-cooling of a desublimator, and/or by providing refrigeration of effluent of a desublimator in regeneration to a refrigerant in a closed refrigeration cycle for deep-cooling of another desublimator.

  • Patent number: 9346007
Abstract: Contemplated configurations and methods for flue gas treatment comprise a quench section and a scrubbing section that are configured and operated to avoid net condensation of water from the quenched flue gas in the scrubbing section. Consequently, the active agent in the scrubbing medium can be maintained at high concentration and will so allow continuous removal of SOX and NOX to very low concentrations. Moreover, as the scrubbing medium is not diluted by condensate, loss of active agent can be substantially reduced. Especially preferred systems will reduce SO2 concentrations in flue gas to less than 5 ppm, and more typically less than 3 ppm while substantially reducing water and reagent consumption.
