  • Patent number: 5588208
Abstract: A set oil ring to be assembled into a piston ring groove is made up of a spacer ring and a pair of side rail rings to be placed on both sides thereof. In assembling one of the side rail rings into a first groove portion which is on an upper side of the spacer ring in the piston ring groove, a guide member, which can be moved up and down for fitting the rings onto a piston, is moved to a first fitting position which is substantially the same level as the groove wall surface of the first groove portion. A restricting member is disposed oppositely in front of the guide member while leaving a clearance facing the first groove portion. One of the side rail rings is pushed out of the front end of the guide member in a condition in which split end portions of the spacer ring are restricted by the restricting member so as not to overlap.

  • Patent number: 5301788
Abstract: A pallet with a workpiece mounted thereon is delivered on a pallet carriage, and transferred onto the table of a machine tool which has a different height from the pallet carriage. Lifting mechanisms on the pallet carriage are engaged by respective positioning members in front of the machine tool. The lifting mechanisms are actuated to lift the pallet carriage to position the pallet carriage for transfer of the pallet onto the machine tool table. The pallet is transferred from the pallet carriage onto the machine tool table, half of a predetermined stroke by a first transfer mechanism on the pallet carriage and the remaining half of the stroke by a second transfer mechanism on the machine tool table. The table has vertically movable support rollers for supporting the pallet when it is transferred onto and from the table. When the pallet P is positioned on the table, the vertically movable support rollers are retracted downwardly.

  • Patent number: 5201116
Abstract: A process for measuring an unbalance of a torque converter, in which an outer member and an inner member of the torque converter are assembled, and oil is filled into the outer member to establish a condition similar to an actual service state of the torque converter. In this condition, the two members are rotated in unison. If the rotational speed of the torque converter reaches a measuring rotational speed, a plurality of measurements are conducted with the phase of the outer and inner members being varied between each measurement through a predetermined angle, thereby correctly detecting only an unbalance due to the outer member, with an unbalance due to the inner member being canceled from the results of the measurements. Cutting a balance weight having a weight sufficient to correct the detected unbalance from a metal tape and attached said cut balance weight to an outer periphery of the outer member of the torque converter at a given position by spot-welding or adhesive-bonding.

  • Patent number: 5081873
Abstract: An inner member of a constant-velocity joint is continuously tilted with respect to an outer member thereof up to a maximum tilt angle while the inner member is rotating. From data including tilt angles and torques which are measured when the inner member is tilted, and also from maximum and minimum torque values at the maximum tilt angle which are detected from the measured data, there is calculated a pair of curves indicative of the maximum and minimum torque values of the inner member at the respective tilt angles. Maximum and minimum torque values at a given tilt angle of the inner member are then calculated from the calculated curves, and then compared with the predetermined reference values, thereby determining whether the constant-velocity joint is good or not.
